orphanmeat34I’m not sure what situation you are talking about considering the lack of availability for the 8th gen CPU’s or anywhere close to MSRP. 7th gen CPU’s can be had for pretty good prices lately. I picked up a 7700K for $288 last week and a 7500 for $145ish yesterday.

BobertTheir lack of a availability doesn't change the fact that that Intel is moving on from the 1151 socket. To each their own. I just wouldn't buy it.

orphanmeat34Intel has moved to a new chipset ever two generations for many years. It's not new. The 10th Generation will be out sometime around 2020, at which time AMD will have a new platform out as well, so it hardly matters either way. If someone buys a 7700k today they will be fine for at least four years.
