Are you guys serious? You want us to pay upwards of $40 for a knife that can be had from Amazon for less than $36 with same day prime shipping? What is the Massdrop advantage then?
zsoumyaFair point, I've known Massdrop isn't always the best deal, but like it for other reasons. Massdrop is either the best deal, or its usually very close.
drafter31You would think massdrop would work out logistics prior to taking money. Simply stating "we still haven't heard back from the place we buy the stuff we are supposed to sale you at the same price Amazon sells it for." is not really making me like massdrop too much.
I am aware that everyone has different taste, however this knife looks like one of those fantasy knives. Not in my wheel house. CRKT does make some outstanding knives though. Their Jeff Park Crossbones is a beautiful design, both appearance and function, IMHO.
OK... Perhaps I am being a bit harsh... But I am one who thinks, and, therefore, owns, a ZT 0801...., And, I think is awesome looking. I also own a Kizer Ki401B1, which is also ‘beautiful’!! So, this ‘Deviation’ is simply not my style. I hope I didn’t offend anyone by my comment, just expressing my range of ‘taste’.
jester563I am very happy with the knife, as I love the look. It also came quite sharp and, although it took a while to learn how to flip it open without cutting my fingernail on the sharp edges of the handle (flick your wrist while pressing and it pops open), I now love to flip it open and closed just for the fun of it. :)
The impractical part comes from a couple of factors which I didn't fully appreciate until I had the knife in-hand: The design is fancy/dressy, but it's too big and way too heavy to carry comfortably in a pair of slacks (it's twice as heavy as other knives this size, due to the all metal construction); On the other hand, the pivot needs to be super smooth to open easily (so you don't want to get dirt in it), and the mirror finish on the blade will get damaged if you use it in the back woods. So it's kind of in between for my needs, and mostly serves as a gorgeous box opener. :)
I have this knife. If you're looking for an edc you already know you can find better knives to do the job, don't act like you thought this was a good EDC knife. This is a very pretty knife, I use it to open letters and to stand it on my desk. That's really all, and it was worth it for me but it may not be worth that for you.
michael_areI came here to write this. It sits on my desk, waiting to help me open letters and the occasional package. At that, it excells. I also like the unconventional look. To each, his own.
As others have said, the non-cutting side of the blade is surprisingly sharp. All in all, this isn't a knife I'd use for every day carry, but for a letter opener and eye catching thing, it's fills the bill.
Very square edges on the handle scales it is like holding a sharp piece of metal and not talking about the blade, so it makes it difficult and painful if you have to use it for more than a few seconds not very comfortable at all it does look cool though and that is about it.
I actually found a CRKT Eros SS for $20 on Amazon. The listing said the packaging might be damaged, but even that didn't end up being true. It's not a counterfeit either that I can detect, I checked that immediately. It's held up to a month of use already
