DIY DigDug

If you’ve ever wanted an arcade you can fit in your backpack, today is your lucky day. An entirely comprehensive kit that gives you a DIY micro arcade cabinet, the Cupcade: Raspberry Pi-Powered Arcade Kit lets you build your own self-contained gaming machine. Fully stocked with a touchscreen, power supply, speaker, and all of the necessary analog components, an afternoon of work can lead to a lifetime of reenacting your childhood.

Cupcade: Raspberry Pi-Powered Arcade Kit

Pocket Pong

Allowing full customization to cater to a range of arcade classics, the Cupcade can be configured for either a vertical or horizontal screen and the joystick can be placed between the buttons or off to the side. As the included SD card comes installed with a MAME emulator, simply plug the card into your computer and add in any NES or arcade ROMs you can find. Soon enough, you’ll be blasting asteroids, dodging monkey barrels, and saving the world from any and all intergalactic threats.

Cupcade: Raspberry Pi-Powered Arcade Kit

Compact Pac-Man

All you need to complete the kit is a soldering iron, solder, wire, basic electronic hand tools, tape, and a Raspberry Pi model B. If you need the Raspberry Pi, it is available as an add-on at check-out. As assembling the kit takes some familiarity with soldering and Raspberry Pi or Linux hacking, it’s recommended for more experienced users. All in all, assembly should take somewhere between four and six hours. For a more detailed look, check out this guide and tutorial.
