Thanks for participating in the CustomArt Harmony 8 or 8 Pro IEM drop. Now, we begin the process of getting your custom in-ears to you!
Here's the step of step list of what you need to do to get your custom IEM made:
1. Contact Piotr at CustomArt (info@thecustomart.com) about your order. Piotr already has a list of the member participating in this drop along with the order detail, so it will be a very quick and straight forward process.
2. Once Piotr confirms the order, see an audiologist to have your ear impressions created or create impressions via a DIY kit yourself. Getting help from a professional audiologist is the most preferred method, as the definition of the impressions from DIY kits are often insufficient for what CustomArt requires.
If you decide to use an audiologist for the ear impressions, please be sure to have make each impression past the second bend, full concha (for detachable cables it is advised that there's a lot of overlaying material on impressions around cymba and crus helix part), mouth open with bite-block. Impressions have to be made from soft silicone material. Dreve, Egger or Westone brands are recommended.
3. You MUST also take a picture of the ear impressions and send to info@thecustomart.com.
4. Once the impressions are confirmed by CustomArt, you can ship the impressions to:
CustomArt
Piotr Granicki
Pulawska 28.36
02-512 Warszawa
Poland
5. For customers outside of Poland, please declare the value of the impressions as $10 and not the value of the IEMs you will receive. This is because the impressions are actually of negligible value from a customs perspective and if over valued CustomArt will be charged duties.
6. It will then takes a few weeks for CustomArt to create your own pair of the IEM based on the impression.
7. Once the CustomArt IEMs are completed, CustomArt will ship the finished IEM to you directly via FedEx from Poland.
If there's any questions or feedback at any point throughout this process, please feel free to reach out to CustomArt at info@thecustomart.com or Massdrop by clicking the contact support button in your transaction page.
I really wanted to get in on this but I was too late:( I already own the Ei. xx and it is really good, amazing bass yet still clear and balanced.
Why only 10 per year!?
DeathbyMusic
Yeah, I saw this drop early on, was going to wait until I got home... Too late, all 10 were gone :(
DeathbyMusic
This may not be the only drop of Harmony 8 this year. The drop page was "reused" from the last year's where that applied.
[EDIT]Apparently this was last drop this year and it was last Harmony drop ever. We won't be relisting Pro330/Harmony8/8Pro/8.2 with Massdrop.
Oh well, I guess I was too late, I'll get the Ei.xx.
That was freaking fast guys!!! Just wow...
Thank you all for participating.
CustomArt
I was rushing to purchase and was able to sneak in just in time :) for the color/material choices, i just chose ones that seemed ok just so i could get in for the drop (which i was luckily able to) but are we able to review what each color is like and change our choices at a later time?
lightvu
Yes, we will confirm every order upon receiving impressions.
From the picture it looks like at least one person got their AK100ii :)
Can anyone comment on the soundstage of the Harmony 8 or 8 Pro vs Ei.xx ? Also which is easier to drive ?
abonif
same question....deciding between the 8 pro and ei.xx ....if you didn't inform us of the drop...i'd already have jumped on the pro :) ...i regret acting slow on the ak100ii and missing out :( .... would also like to konw the key differences between the 8, 8pro and ei.xx
lightvu
Harmony 8 - smoother darker signature. Slightly bigger soundstage. Highs are very non-offensive and in the second layer. Harmony 8 Pro - more aggressive signature (more mainstream sound). More detailed and precise imaging. Highs are in the same line as the rest of the sound.
Ei.xx is more like Harmony 8 signature wise, but has smaller soundstage. Ei.xx has more sub bass and gives you more "brain shake" :) Ei.xx is not as dark. Ei.xx is based on amplified Olive-Welti curve so it's still balanced despite having V-shaped response.
Hi all,
We had a mistake on the pricing for Harmony 8/8 Pro. Our apologies! The good news is the price is actually now lower than what was previously listed.
What other type of In-Ear Monitors could you compare these too? I'm a collage student from Canada who would probably use these as my only IEM device.
I mainly listen to electronic music. Here is an example of my favourite song right now [Genre: Future Funk](

). This is in no order of what Genres I like: [Deep House](

), [DanceHall](

), [Trap](

), [Electro Swing](

), [PsyTrance](

), Heavy Metal, Rap, Reggae, Older Rock (Like Jimi Hendrix), and sometimes Soundtrack music. Their might be more that I'm missing but that should give you a good Idea what I like.
Portable music source: Spotify/Soundcloud -> Android -> Fiio E18 Dac/Amp Home music source: FLAC files/Spotify/SoundCloud -> Schiit Modi/Magni
I'm currently testing out the Sennheiser IE80 ($250 USD). I find the treble is muddy and the bass is nice and boomy. I have also tried the Noble 3 ($350 USD) and I prefer them over the IE80's because the sound is cleaner but still fun. Previous IEM: B&W C5 (fun and boomy), B&O C5 (Boring and Quiet), Ultimate Ears 900 (Boring and Analytical). I *think* I prefer the V shaped sound signature but I'm unsure. Would you recommend the regular CustomArt 8 or the 8 Pro?
To be honest I really can't afford to spend this much money but I willing to drop the money so this is a big decision.
How would shipping work to Canada?
Thanks!

Thank goodness for another Ei.XX drop. Any idea what time and what timezone it will start? I want to be first. I've got a trip in March/April that I would love to use these.
well, i have a pair of klipsch x10's and theyre way too dark. My akg k7xx is pretty awesome, really like the level of detail but i preferred some more bass impact cause it feels just a little too analytical. Ive briefly tried the HD650 and that sort of went the opposite way. Apart from having less space, it felt a little lacking in the treble/presence but i think it had a better midrange, which made me start adding a couple dB at 3-4kHz on my k7xx Essentially im not looking for a pair of subwoofers on my head, but in between being able to enjoy my music and also be able to hear fine details (i guess that's everyones dream, huh? :) )
Hi, do you intend to do a drop of the Pro330 this year? I ask as I'm after a pair of IEM's for stage use (a musical), and am wondering if the lower profile of the 330s might not be better. Any thoughts? Many thanks.
Load 1 more comment
think I might have gotten it wrong—is the 330 actually lower profile than the 8? I know you originally designed the 330 for stage/studio, but do you think the 8 or 8 pro would be as good/better for it? My primary uses will be on stage (the musical) and in the studio. Any advice?
bepoq
We have artists using both Pro330 and Harmony8 on stage. Pro330 is definitely better for vocals and general monitoring. Pro330 can be made lower profile but with detachable system they are always going to stick out a little bit.
Maybe this is a stupid question... I have never dealt with custom impressions before!
Can I get the impressions back with my order so as to re-use them, like for a set of earplugs, or are they destroyed to mold the earpieces.
Thanks!
evoshop
We can send your impressions back, just make sure to let us know
So only custom .... universal possible ?
Maxyeo
Only custom, sorry
I don't see any option for the Thor cable...hmmm..
Anyone with the non-pros have any impressions for me relating to the bass? Also recommendations for dac/amps that pair well would be appreciated.
got mine a few days ago (already had impressions on file with custom art)... couldnt be happier. A really nice upgrade from my pro330v2's. Honestly, i listen to music more with these (and my pro330v2's) because its just that much more enjoyable.
guys, what was the discount for this drop? I'm so sad that I missed it :(
guisess93
Price was $789
CustomArt
I guess I have to wait for next year right :( Btw, I usually listen to this kind of epic instrumental music

and sometimes together with female vocal like this

So is H8 and/or H8P suitable for me or not?
Dear Group,
We have a very small edit to our previous message. Please refer to the below set of instructions. We corrected CustomArt's zipcode to 02-512.

Do you know if there are import taxes to the U.S.?
ConorMooney
Yes, AFAIR it was something around $50 collected by UPS at door.

Hi Everyone,
Thank you all for participating in the drop!
Here are key point for impressions: -Impressions have to be made from soft silicone material. -Dreve, Egger and Westone brands are recommended. -Use of foam or cotton swabs to protect eardrum is advised
-Past the second bend and shall include: full concha, helix, crus helix, tragus and antitragus. -Mouth should be open with bite-block inserted between teeth in order to maximally stabilize the mandible. If a bite block is unavailable then teeth might rest against something of similar size, for example a thumb. Keeping mouth open for about 2.5 cm without talking and moving is recommended for getting full comfort and isolation.
-Send us pictures of your ear impressions for first quality evaluation! -------- Turnaround for monitors will be ~4weeks, from the moment of receiving and accepting impressions in our lab.
-------- CA Harmony 8/8Pro will be shipped from Poland, with UPS Express shipping. We are not responsible for import taxes imposed by your country. Note, EU orders are tax-free by default.
------- If you have any questions feel free to contact us: info@thecustomart.com or Massdrop representative.
Thanks Piotr
If one buys the upgrade cable, do you also get the default cable?
carlsan
Yes, we will ship both cables.
Hey Piotr, is the "venomous green" color shown on Facebook available, and would that be considered a custom color now if so would I need to pay $30 per ear or just $30 for the single color? Would that be easier for you to work in than the metallic lime green?
Load 1 more comment
Not a problem, didn't realize it was an acrylic, I'll just be quiet now. :) Congrats on the huge success of this drop too.
Airdoo
Thanks! But you know... if you have questions, shoot, this is why I'm here for :)
Hi I have two questions before participating. 1) Are Crimson Transparent and Yellow Transparent available for this drop? They weren't selectable at checkout here. 2) How about acryllic faceplates? Any extra charges? Thanks for your time.
Load 1 more comment
So does the "clear" faceplate mean it'll be the same colour as the body or would it be transparent?
Ansar
Well, yes. There's really no point in making clear faceplate.
Piotr, what's the minimum ear canal size required for these babies to fit? I've read that some people were unable to get the monitors done due to a small canal size. Thanks!
mikehjy
I've already replied to your facebook PM, but I will answer here to make it visible here. Minimal required canal size would be something that can fit 4x2mm in any possible configuration. That means your canal can be rounded say like 6mm in diameter or more oval like 3x8mm and both will work.
Any chance the Thor cable can be terminated with a balanced 2.5mm TRRS plug?
carlsan
Yes I think, but I will contact Effect Audio and let you know
[Edit] I confirmed with Effect Audio it's possible to have 2.5mmTRRS
Do I have to choose the $29 option if I want the "swirl" style like the ones you have on Facebook?
Load 1 more comment
For example:Harmony 8 Pro Black metallic + Purple Transparent swirl. Do I have to choose the $29 option ?
Petercky
No
Piotr, I'm curious how durability of silicone mouldings looks like? They degrade somehow with time? I mean from sun, air and skin oils?
Boris_Dime
Generally speaking they will hold well unless you are going to abuse them. Silicone is semi-soft so it flexes and requires a bit more care over standard acrylic monitors or universal IEMs. The only degrade can be noticed in clear material which tends to show slight yellowing after few months of use. Beside that the material is resistant to skin oils, ear wax, sweat etc. and it's completely safe in touch with skin.
So massdrop says that shipping to poland is 49,99$ so shipping poland>poland does cost so much? I don't get it.
oddone
Read the description friend. "For members in Poland, your shipping charge will be reduced to $0 when the drop ends."
oddone
Shipping in Poland is free.
Which do you think would be best for edm specifically house? The pro or regular?
ConorMooney
I would say go with Regular.
$50 to ship something this small in the U.S.? I don't get it.
Load 2 more comments
"They're shipping from Poland. Plus insurance."
Thanks for the info.
"Besides, if the price of shipping is what's stopping you from purchasing these, you shouldn't be considering it in the first place."
I'm clearly not the mega-rich business tycoon you are. Forgive me for looking. I'm going back to the Beats by Dr. Dre to hang with the little people.
Erix
Be sure to check our other products we have one of the most affordable CIEMs in the market with extremely good price to performance ratio :)
