ludachrisThey vary per piece of shell. We generally do our best to use the thinner portions for the 18mm and 20mm widths. The 22-24mm widths get the thicker pieces for them, as they are generally going on larger watches. The range is usually 1.5-2.5mm thick, but most being in the 1.5mm-2.1 range.

DA-LUCAI got the Nato strap in 22 last time the Natos dropped on here, and it’s darn near paper thin. I was pretty disappointed since I want to put it on a beefier watch but it’s going to look strange.

greene.tc789Shell varies immensely in regards to the thickness. We are lucky to get some colors and maybe only receive 2-4x hides. The hides are extremely small (1'x2.5' approx) and each hide varies with it's thickness from the right side to the left. We apologize about the thickness, but in reality we are lucky to even be offering some of the colors that we do in this many sizes/options. We hope you understand as we are trying our best with the extreme limited nature of shell cordovan.

It is nothing personal, we just do our best to offer something very special for MD, but most people do not realize how special it is, since they would need to do some heavy digging into the rarity of the leather online. DA-LUCAI appreciate you taking the time to get back to me, especially so quickly, and I’ll just keep my eyes peeled for the next time the NATO Shell Cordovan strap drops and hope I get a thicker one then. The one have currently is still in its original cheese cloth bag as I don’t have a light enough watch for it yet, but it is definitely beautiful and of immense quality so I thank you, individually and as a company, for your products but even more so for your customer service.

greene.tc789It is our pleasure. We have adapted immensely to MD and the drops, to better fit the needs of everybody on here and we have done our best to learn from the mistakes made. Feedback is the only way we are going to adapt to offer what is wanted on here, so all (- and +) feedback is greatly appreciated. We have done things a certain way outside of MD for many years and the clientele we get loves what we offer, but on a mass scale we have never been setup for that so adapting is the only way to try and make everybody happy through this newer avenue for us. We hope everybody understands and everybody's support is greatly appreciated.
