A favorite of hikers everywhere, Darn Tough has certainly earned its name. Its socks are just that: darn tough—they’re meant to last and fit like a dream each time you put them on Read More
The Darn Toughs are great. Fit well (I'm an 8 1/2 shoe) and quality seems good so far. No seam issues rubbing anywhere. I got 2 mystery packs and i do wish they had been more different from each other, but each one had one long thin pair and one ankle thin pair.
I was expecting some color, but I was quite happy to receive a pair of Coolmax and a pair of thicker, wool socks, both in black. I love the fit and feel of the Coolmax and look forward to trying out the other!
I have a dozen Darn Tough socks of various colors and weights. They are great and everyone should try a pair. These cost below retail, which is nice, would buy again.
I have never been so disappointed in a drop before. The description promised a two-pack of socks selected from “a variety of different socks.” I liked all the socks pictured as potential socks one could receive, and I was so excited for some weird colors or crazy patterns that I ordered 4 pairs total.
Instead of any variety at all, I received four pairs of ankle height black socks. They all look identical. The only difference between them is that 3 are 100% synthetic and 1 has some wool in it. (Sidebar: last time I checked, DT was reknowned for their socks containing merino wool, not “CoolMax” - I’m sorry to see that they seem to have stopped producing wool socks as their flagship product).
If I had known that receiving 4 pairs of black socks was a possibility — or even a certainty, given other reviews posted recently — I would not have joined this drop.
Tl;dr: socks without variety. 1 out of 5, would not purchase again.
I believe it was reasonable to expect two different pairs of socks, but I’m afraid I received two identical, black pairs. I was hoping for some color, as the pics suggested, but at the very least I should have received two slightly different pairs. Shame!
runsupmountainsIndeed, “selected at random” implies two different pairs. With so many possibilities the chance that two pairs selected randomly would be the same is exceedingly low. Therefore, “selected at random” was false advertising!
