Support for Alternative Layouts
This is a summary of how alternative layouts have been supported by kits such as Colevrak and Homing. It is not a discussion of alt layout performance and development, but if that interests you I highly recommend starting with Pascal Getreuer’s A guide to alt keyboard layouts (why, how, which one?). It’s a concise and comprehensive overview with links to some great sites that go deeper. He also has a separate Links about keyboards page. The Keyboard layouts doc he recommends explains layout goals and metrics in detail, summarizing the alt layouts discussed here as well as more than one hundred others. As of tonight, >95% of the orders have shipped out. There are a few orders that had incorrect shipping labels that were held up today, but they are expected to get corrected shipment labels and be sent out tomorrow.
UPDATE: 9/19
As of tonight, 80% of the orders have shipped. The remaining orders are expected to ship in the next couple days, though it's possible they will all go out tomorrow AM (please keep in mind it can take 12-24 hours for tracking to get into the system and be emailed out).
I'll provide an update Thursday 9/21 to confirm that they've all gone out.
UPDATE: 9/15
As of tonight, 50% of the orders have shipped. The remaining orders are expected to ship next week. The reason these were not all shipped out today is that another order was ahead in priority (based on being delayed further than this set). A majority of the other order has been shipped, so I'm expecting the orders to continue shipping and a majority, if not all, to be shipped early next week. I'm sorry the team was not able to get everything out from this order today - I know many people are anxiously waiting to get their shipping confirmation.
I'll provide an update end of day Tuesday 9/19 (if not sooner) to update you on the latest.
UPDATE: 9/14
As of this afternoon, 26% of this drop had shipped and the team expects the majority to be shipped by EOD tomorrow, but it may be the case that some sets are shipped early next week. Please keep in mind that tracking numbers sometimes take 12-24 hours before being in the system and sent out.
I'll provide an update tomorrow (9/15) towards the end of the day with what % shipped out, and if there are any that didn't yet I will try and get as much specific information as I can on why they weren't sent yet and when they should be sent. Thanks for the patience.
UPDATE: 9/12
Hey all - just wanted to follow-up on the multiple comments surfaced below about not seeing tracking orders yet. I checked with the team, and only a portion of the Dasher & Dancer drop went out on Monday. The remainder of orders are continuing to be sent out today and over the next couple days, and we expect all shipments to be sent by the end of the week (Fri 9/15).
Sorry for the confusion - it's entirely my fault. I misunderstood the fact that shipping was starting on Monday as indication that all of these would be sent out yesterday, when it simply meant shipping would start on Monday. I'm working on fixing the communication process so that we message ahead of time when issues come up, and so we ensure we have accurate information to you (to prevent adhoc updates like this!). That new communication process is starting up next week - it may not be perfect out the gate, but I know it will be much better than what we've done recently, and I'll be making sure we continue to get better. Sorry for the issues and confusion I caused in the meantime.

Hey all - I wanted to share a quick (and overdue) update on the Dasher & Dancer drop. All planned units have reached our warehouse and are being prepared to ship out this Monday (the 11th). If you haven’t already responded to previous emails and wish to cancel your order, you have until Sunday 9/10 to cancel it by going to your transactions page and clicking ‘Cancel Order’ on the Dasher & Dancer drop. As we previously mentioned, the issue from this drop came from delayed production lines at our partner, Signature Plastics. Again, we’re sorry for the disappointment and delay. Beyond that, I also want to apologize for the poor and inconsistent messaging we’ve provided around the delays with this drops. Problems will happen from time to time, but it’s unacceptable for us to not provide clear, regular, and transparent updates on what’s going on. Again, I’m sorry - we can and will do better here. I’m updating our process for messaging on our Massdrop Made drops. If you have feedback on what you’d like to see from us, please feel free to reply here. Thanks for the feedback and patience.
Contacted massdrop 2 days ago but haven't heard a single peep since.
@thinkriver - You will get an email once the drop ships. You also can check your transactions page.
I honestly think the vast majority of MassDrop members would rather have to opt-out than have to successfully opt back in (and possibly lose their order). I'm glad opt-out is a permissable option as far as the FTC rules go.

Just felt the uncertainly was a bit unnerving.
Why ISNT that the default? These aren't impulse buys for this community, they are drops we discuss and plan for. I intend to buy a NEW keyboard just to put these keys on it.
Otherwise, your messaging should be better since I got no notice I would be dropped.

An easy way to see all the previos communication so messages do not go burried in tons of messages
massdrop should have a reminder to update at least every 2 weeks with some status.
every drop should have indicated a massdrop staff people for reference

We've seen dates come and go a few times. Totally cool forgiving that, stuff happens. I know what its like to be stuck between the Engineering team and clients, I can see both sides. @bradr did the right thing and owned this as his, and you know what, that's okay, it happens. Totally forgiven in my eyes. And it sounds like the MD team is trying to learn from this.
Like @clicky_clacky & @JohnRCooper said, we'll get our caps sooner or later.... and then we'll all be looked at weird by coworkers and family who don't understand why we are just staring at our keyboards smiling.

fyi all - I've posted an update above.
" This drop had an issue with shipping information being sent to FedEx before the orders were actually ready to ship. This caused the shipping labels to sit at the courier with no update. Rest assured, new tracking numbers have been created and your order is packing for shipment as we speak. You should receive an email with your tracking details by Monday or Tuesday at the latest. "
This whole drop has been problem after problem.
Did you receive a separate email recently that says it shipped? The tracking number on my "Transactions" page is still the old one, and despite my keys being delivered on Saturday, still says "Label Created." However, the tracking number in my email was correct, and that one does say that it was delivered.
