The great outdoors has nothing on the Defcon TD005 fixed blade. At nearly 9 inches long, this powerful full-tang knife is primed for tough cuts and slices Read More
Make no mistake, this is a chunky knife. The blade stock extremely thick D2 and the knife is finished well with the notable exception of the sheath and edge. The sheath is functional enough, however the spacing of the rivet holes makes orienting the knife sheath on the clip in any position besides vertical or horizontal clumsy at best. The other hangup, which is arguably the biggest detractor, is the edge isn't sharp. The bevel is shallow, maybe 45⁰ or so. The edge also would benefit from a notch at the heel of the blade and a rather severe reprofiling. For the price offered, this isn't a terrible knife, but know that it IS in need of some end user finishing.
I like this knife but on receiving it I was somewhat underwhelmed. Feels good, nice weight, and proper size. Needed sharpening right off and is basically more mass-produced Chinese junk. I’ll keep it as a throw away carry blade but wouldn’t recommend it to anyone else.
I bought this for my 14 year old because his mom recently passed away, and I thought why not start him collecting knives. Other than expensive Cold Steel, I haven't seen other good knives. The weight and finish on this thing were impressive and I wish I had gotten one for myself. Now I worry he's going to drop it, no pun intended, and slice off his big foot when he's showing it off to friends and family.

Someday, after your son has become a seasoned collector of knives, he's going to show you what's wrong with that statement.
What an awesome purchase. Thick piece of D2 (I know there’s D2 haters but I think it makes a great knife) that should be great for bushcraft. Comfortable handle, what’s not to like?
It has some thick g-10 scales and a thick blade, my thickest at this size. So not for small hands. The jimping is not nicely done and will probably create a hot spot for thougher tasks.
Mine is also badly brushed and has some strange stains.
But the factory sharpness is really well done. Probably the best factory sharpening ive ever got.
