ponagathosI see a copy on Amazon that says 4.6 ounces. Defcon has a real habit of varying from their advertised specs though. At least, that's been my experience with every one of their D2 knives. Their actual dimensions, advertised dimensions, and even the spec sheet they ship with their knives are usually never in 100% agreement. It's never a huge difference -- 8 1/4 vs 8 inches, 7.2 ounces vs 8 ounces, stuff like that. The knives are fit together just fine, so it's not general sloppiness with the build. Probably people just not using updated figures when stuff gets printed or copied over to an ad. Maybe things like altering the spec a bit for one run to take advantage of some leftover material or getting the knives made by more than one OEM with differences between the two.

I have 2 other Defcon knives, the Agent and the Cutter. Both are really really good, especially the Agent. So I’m inclined to give this knife a fair go.

I googled "TP68 PAN" , - doesn't look like this is a good drop.

DzerhIt can't be all bad when you can get this knife on Ebay for $35 and free shipping can it?

Wow, this looks like a straight rip-off of the Force Two from Pohl Force.

SimonLHuh. It kinda does, doesn't it? I mean there's enough differences that it's legal and not a genuine clone, and the Force Two's more stylized in non-trivial ways, but yeah, that's gonna put some folks off buying it.

Not me though. My own personal rule in a case like this where someone's making a budget copy of a knife that's no longer in production or has an extravagant cost that's meant to render it an exclusive item for the wealthy: go hard or go home. I'm not shopping for a clone but if they've got their own brand on it, I don't mind so long as they're actually making a good knife that people can afford. The folks that are gonna pick this up are not the ones that now have a Pohl Force Mike Five in their pocket. No, they're the people who are happy to buy Ganzos, and Land 910s and other affordable reliable copies of knives that cost out the schnozz to buy an original, because they have less than $50 and need a good knife. If it sucks, all bets are off, of course. But Defcon's made some decent knives before. Figure I'm still in.

SimonLDefinitely heavy inspiration. But I don't think anyone is going to mistake the two.

JG123one of the Amazon sellers says it's on bearings, which is believable as every Defcon knife I have picked up has bearings. Usually ceramics in a brass cage.

KjunCountryThere's a very popular thread on this site about Chinese knives that you really should read.

SchmittABI’ll be damn! Well I did some searching and reading and I stand corrected. I wrongfully assumes this to be some typical cheap “made in China” type stuff. Appreciate the insight and direction.

True enough...I have no idea why McHenry and Williams chose "Axis" for the name of their locking mechanism. I guess the inventor can call it anything he wants. ;^)
