Love the inks. EXCELLENT packing by massdrop! It was in an inflatable protector inside the box. No complaints. Very good price for the ink too. Diamine makes some great inks.

I really like this in. The Blue Fire is fun to watch write and then ofter change color as it dries or the liquid portion of the ink is absorbed paper leaving, in this case, what looks like letters made of gold. I'd have given 4.5 stars as the ink clogs many of my nibs but the are on the fine size and the package acknowledges the ink works better in bigger line nibs. Fun,fun, fun especially in an Ideal 2 nib. One issue, the caps are thin metal and require effort to close without cross threading. Since the need to be shaken before filling this has led to ink splatters from the bottle when it's 'closed'

I bought these due to poor impulse control. Well, that and the sheer novelty. I never really had any intent to use either, until I inked an inexpensive Pilot with an IB nib with the Frosted Orchid and found the effect to be haunting. It's subtle, and adds a coolness to the tonality of the color. I actually thought briefly about using it, until my wife called it "glitter," utterly emasculating me in the process (I had to go immediately write about it on a 2x4 with a carpenter's pencil in order to restore my mojo). Regardless - and again, due to the poor impulse control - I ended up joining the drop for the J. Herbin 1670 the next time it came around, and find the Diamine Shimmer to flow better and more consistently through the same pen(s).

I have 4 different bottles of this ink and each is very vibrant in their own way. Seeing the look on my coworkers faces when they realize that my writing literally shimmers never gets old. My only complaint would be that you have to make sure to fully clean your pen either every fill or every other fill. I have used this in a few different pens (super5 medium nib, Lamy Safari 1.1mm, Faber Castel E-Motion medium nib) each one has had clogging issues if you don't clean after use. If you have been interested in shimmering ink you really can't go wrong with this ink.

Canadianman1986How do you clean your pens? I have a Lamy 1.1mm, and I haven't been able to get the flakes out

reehpI get the pen as clean as I can soakong running water over everything then I will use the converter to fill and push water through the nib. It can take a while though.

Ink flow is not enough in any of my 5, really well writing pens. Effect on paper is absolutely amazing so I like this product any way. Not suitable for every day use.

Good color, but bad ink flow with a medium or fine nib. Use only with broad nibs.

Beautiful colors, but doesn't work with any of my pens. The metal fibers are too large for my fountain pens (regardless of fine or broad nib) to flow correctly, but the ink is too thin for my calligraphy pens, resulting in large blobs. The ink also bleeds more than my other inks and isn't good for my journals. The bottles leaked during shipping and leak when gently shaking.

D_SkiesI do not recall the brand of my calligraphy oblique and nib. I have issues using this ink in both of my fountain pens I bought here on massdrop; one is Italix Parson and the other I can't seem to find in my history to recall its make. Oddly, the ink works better in the cheap fountain pen I bought at a local craft store, but still bleeds on my journal's paper.

Cool Concept, Not great in my pens.
Shimmer particles sink very quickly which lends to an uneven shimmer or no shimmer when writing unless you stop every couple of lines and shake it back up. Too thin for calligraphy pens. No clog issues in my medium nib pens (tried both 14k and stainless), but the ink did not play nicely with my Namiki XF nib. Clogged almost immediately.

My favorite shimmer ink brand!
I love shimmer inks though I don’t use them all that often and only in certain pens (I’m looking at you, TWISBI). However, I’ve generally had great experience with Diamine shimmer inks except for once when I had to take apart the pen for a thorough cleaning. The inks are beautiful and adds something special to your writing.
