Diplomat Optimist Fountain & Ball Pens

Since 1922, German pen maker Diplomat has employed traditional methods to develop and create writing instruments, driven by the belief that handwritten communication helps people to develop meaningful personal and business relationships. Diplomat’s pens reflect the company’s philosophy of striving to facilitate more frequent and open communication by offering comfortable, durable, smooth-writing pens that people will enjoy enough to carry and use daily. The Optimist’s full metal casing has the same profile as the matte-finished Diplomat Esteem, but is offered in a high-gloss black lacquer finish with laser-etched Rhombus and Rings designs.

Diplomat’s Esteem fountain pens are fitted with proprietary stainless steel nibs bearing the company logo, but work with international standard cartridges and converters. As compared to most stainless steel nibs, Diplomat nibs offers a bit of springy flex that enable a slight amount of line variation writing without muting feedback. Diplomat’s logo also appears on the finial atop the pen’s cap, which is made from brass and offers a secure and satisfying click when closed or posted, and is fitted with Diplomat’s signature chrome-plated clip and an internal plastic sleeve to protect the barrel’s glossy finish. The Optimist rollerball shares the same barrel profile as the fountain pen, while the EasyFLOW ballpoint pen twists open and closed.
