When a compact layout is essential—and light diffusion is a must—the DNA65 Stacked Acrylic mechanical keyboard delivers. Small enough to fit on almost any desktop, it features a 65-key layout with an Fn combination key to accommodate intensive typing applications Read More
I own one of these boards (bought it on ali) so here's my review/warning/PSA.
Plate mount stabs. If this were the only issue it'd be fine, a 4*, but it's not.
DO NOT BUY THIS BOARD!
First off, the foot makes the board UNUSABLE. It is a long bar that does not go from end-to-end of the keyboard, meaning pressing a key at the top (such as the numbers, escape or backspace), especially at the sides, makes the board LEVER OFF THE DESK. This makes it unusable for gaming applications. I removed mine.
Secondly, there is NO MENTION of the board only supporting 3 Pin Switches with LARGE SMD CUTOUTS. 95% OF SWITCHES ON THE MARKET WILL NOT FIT THIS. Instead of the switches I wanted to use, I had to use the included switches because I, despite having 200+ unused switches (Gateron FEI, Yellow, Outemu Black, JWK Dolphin, Kailh Box Navy) in my house, don't have a single switch that will fit this board.
Furthermore, THIS BOARD DOES NOT HAVE AN FN LAYER, THE FN KEY ONLY WORKS FOR THE LIGHTING. WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK LMAO. YOU CAN'T EVEN FIX IT USING THE USELESS SOFTWARE. you have to use AHK (which will get you banned in video games) or touchcursor to implement this functionality.
The only thing good about this keyboard is the looks (if you replace the fugly stock caps). If you want a useless desk weight, buy this keyboard. Otherwise, look somewhere else.
This looks like a ripoff of the GK67 Hotswap without the option to pick each of the 12 layers of acrylic. Does the ALT PCB fit in this keyboard or something?
PhlookeI think "ripoff" is a strong word. There are quite a few stacked acrylic boards on the market.
Like the Amare FieldBro slide lock knife discussion area, "This is a Benchmade Bugout rip off".
Just because something is similar in some ways doesn't make it a blatant copy or rip off
notseanA lot of 60/65% boards in the custom scene share the same characteristic. They often leave a space for their logo/emblem, usually in the spot above the arrow cluster or on the top right. I think this is KPR's attempt to mimic the custom scene while keeping the cost low.
IMO I think it would have worked a little better if the acrylic was cut to allow the DNA logo to be seen more, but of course that would have meant a price hike.
ArthyWould absolutely be an issue for me. There's also some warping/gaps in the acrylic and the back shot showed inconsistent sizing of these layers.
It also looks like the screws that keep the case together screw directly into the top layer, which it's just asking for a loose case and cracked top layer. There's a reason stacked plate cases have historically used spacers and screws from both sides.
happens with GMK keycaps. 3rd row doesn't have the clearance on North facing switches. Its less about malformed, and rather just the height of R3 is so low.
i have several GMK sets that dont not wanna play well with north facing 3th row , ( my go to set for these keyboards , as i have quite a few of them is the stock keycap set from Tada68/saber68 ( pbt cherry profile ) still havent had a single issue with these caps in many years now :)
thank god i love that beige oldschool look since those Tada68 caps are fucking godlike :) ( im so please with them that i picked up a 2nd tada68 just for the keycaps .. )
Yes. The only keycaps that have interference are thick cherry profile keycaps like GMK or most other cherry profile caps. Pretty much every other profile works especially taller ones.
Chromothis part of the description implies that if you get switches you get keycaps "Available with your choice of Gateron switches, or in a barebones option with no keycaps or switches". keep in mind i do not know one way or the other.
