The previous update that I posted on March 12th is here. Since then, production has slipped a bit and the new date they have provided for "manufacturing being completed" is March 29th. So as of now, things have slipped by a week and hopefully no further. Will aim to give you another update once production is complete and we have confirmation that the cargo is loaded on a plane.
April 2nd Update: These are done and being transported to our warehouse in NJ.
April 9th Update: These have arrived in our warehouse, we're receiving/unpacking/inspecting and will be shipping them out- likely early next week.
April 10th Update: Just wanted to let you know everyone will also be receiving a RAMA Works Remedy Spinner in the box with their order.
April 14th Update: I'm told these should be shipping out on April 14th OR April 15th. We're almost there folks.
April 15th Update: I SEE TRACKING NUMBERS! They're hoping to get these all done today, if not, some may spill into tomorrow.
April 16th Update: Everything is shipped, except two orders. Looking into why they're stuck. The extras will be available for sale on the site later today, or tomorrow 4/17, and they will ship in about 2 weeks.
April 17th Update: All of the Laser Alt Keyboards are missing special homing row keys. Those from the original groupbuy that have already had their orders shipped, we will ship you an additional package with the missing keycaps once Signature Plastics sends them to us (approx 1-2 weeks). Those that joined the buy to grab one of the "extra" kits on April 17th, your order will be held until we have the additional keycaps and everything will ship at once. We've temporarily paused accepting orders until we get the replacements (there are still extras left and they will become available for sale once we get these shipments sorted out. Hit the "request" button to make sure you get emailed once the product arrives. Link to Yanbo's post here.
April 20th update: No definite answer on barebones orders and their ship date. All orders, site wide, are currently delayed by 4+ days. We are doing our best to get orders out the door, but also we’re doing it as efficiently as possible. Shipping all of the ALT orders at the same time is more likely than splitting them, but we will see based on how backlogs and staffing levels go. If you’re unwilling to wait, you can cancel your order on the “My transactions” section of the site.
April 27th update: The FJ homing key fix kits are scheduled to arrive at our warehouse tomorrow, April 28th. Assuming all goes smoothly, we'll be shipping the fix kits, as well as the incremental orders (barebones and keycaps) on April 29/30th. Assuming all those shipments go smoothly, we'll re-open the run for new purchasers around May 4th. Hit the "request" button to make sure you're notified when things are back online.
May 1st: "Assuming all those shipments go smoothly" ... famous last words. I'm being told (again) that they'll ship today.
May 1st: Part 2. Store orders from the latest round didn't get sent out today, but now I'm being told they'll ship out on Saturday (May 2nd).
May 3rd update: looks like the Saturday shift at the warehouse didn’t happen; but a Sunday shift did. I see tracking for your orders in the system. Should be good- finally.
May 7th Update: Unsticking this thread as all of the shipments and updates have been resolved.
Hey everyone,
This was something @Mito and I have been planning for a few months now. I thought it was the perfect bookend for our first run of SA Laser.
The Laser ALT High-Profile is a similar project as the original Laser ALT, only this time with SA Laser keycaps and the ALT High-Profile. @Mito and I felt the look of the ALT High-Profile pairs well with the tall spherical SA keycaps.
The keyboard itself will be available in the Dusk (purple) colorway - you’ll have an option to get the keyboard without any keycaps. I’ve also attached a picture of the SA Laser kit for this run - if you do want additional keycaps like the different novelties keys, please do grab it from the SA Laser Custom keycap set page before the pre-order ends on 5/31.

I’m super excited to work on another one of these projects with @Mito and can’t wait to share production and other photos with everyone. As always, appreciate the support from the community!
Just sharing my thoughts. I think this photo greatly captures how washed out the purple is compared to what was shown in the renders. The switch is Zealios V2 67g also with a deeper purple stem and as you can see, the case is much lighter than the SA Laser Alphas. The case is lavender-colored and it looks even more washed out under a stronger lighting. I am disappointed because I wanted an ALT that matches the color of SA laser.
Ordered. Just couldnt miss this design :) @MiTo it would be great if you could add an option to purchase the novelties set for people who missed the initial keycap drop. I know it's not the usual thing to do, but it just gonna be very hard to get SA keycaps from your set in the future. And the fact that the board drop wasn't quite paralel to the keycap drop does't help, with such an expensive board I would love to see some customization options. If nothing works, would highly appreaciate 1-2 random novelties with each board..
Btw ended up snapping Alt Laser low profile with limited exlusive keycap and all bells and whistles like lubed cherry stabilizers and lubed switches and some foam in the case to avoid ping, cheaper then this drop.. Still will look forward to get a Laser styled ctrl high profile if it ever will be a thing. The adonization on Laser Alt is magnificent, probably one of the best looking cases I own, wish the quality of the build would be on the same level.
Hey everyone,
So here's an overdue update about the Drop + Mito Laser ALT High-Profile Keyboard. I've been running around trying to collect information for the past couple days because I'd like to give you as complete of a picture of what's going on here.
It has just come to my attention that our contract manufacturer that makes the ALT High-Profile keyboard (as well as the Laser version) has informed us that production is significantly backlogged and the boards/cases aren't finished. I'm sure this frustrates you as much as it frustrates me, as these were supposed to be ready many months ago. I've yet to get a firm commitment for when they're going to be ready; but with Lunar New Year coming up, we're almost certainly talking about months, not weeks.
Obviously this is unacceptable. We're aggressively pursuing alternative options to get these boards made and shipped as soon as possible, and will update you once we have a solution- update expected by early next week.
I don't want to appear to be shifting blame here. This isn't our contract manufacturer's fault, this is our fault. We choose our partners, we have our operations, and ultimately a combination of those have failed to deliver this product in a remotely timely manner.
So here's what we're going to do moving forward.
1) All participants who have been involved in this situation will receive a $50 credit on their drop.com account that they can use towards any future purchase.
2) Anyone who doesn't want to keep waiting can obtain a full refund by contacting customer service (you will still keep the $50 credit mentioned above). This option will remain available until the situation is resolved.
3) We will be going above and beyond to make this right. The particulars of what that means are still being ironed out but you can expect a special bonus to look forward to. We'll let you know what that will be ASAP.
(An email update will be sent out to everyone once we have a more concrete solution for you.)
In retrospect I should have asked if anyone wanted mine, but I ordered the keycaps separately so it would have just been the case+board+switches (I had selected Halo Trues).
I was about to buy this. But then I just saw the delivery date. December 2019? Seriously?
Also, that raises the point that its $320.
Shouldn't the price of keyboards be going down with so many manufacturers of keycaps, switches, and boards? Like why is this so expensive?
I'm trying to break down the price and figure out if they added a huge margin. Please correct me if any of my numbers are off:
board: $55
https://kbdfans.cn/products/dz60rgb-hot-swap-custom-keyboard-pcb
case: $63
https://kbdfans.cn/products/mechanical-keyboard-shell-anode-aluminum-shell-gh60-poker-60-mechanical-keyboard-shell?variant=36017578317
keycaps: $50 (its 67 keys and they usually overprice the shit outta keycaps everywhere, but I'll give em the average)
Switches: $45 (switches online individualized are expensive as fuck, I'm sure this price is like half for manufacturers)
https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=cart_view
usb C cable: $10
Total $223. Lets say I forgot some stuff, round up to $250.
But then take off like 30% because manufacturers buy in huge amounts of bulk and get stuff for practically free (I'm pretty sure the percentage is even more than this but I'll give the benefit of the doubt).
Total comes out around $175. Pretty big margin from $320. Considering the product hasn't been sold before.
Edit: looking at that number, it still looks ridiculously high. I would estimate cost to be like $100 to make.
Edit 2: fucking 67 ABS keycap set is worth $100??!?!?!?!?!?!?! AGHHHHH
PBT isn't even that expensive for 67 :(
You just look hella salty, you made an incorrect statement and gave inaccurate info to back it up, now you turn to trash talking... Just go enjoy your Anne Pro
He all, pausing the sales of the extras temporarily to allow homing keys that were missing from the original set to arrive in our warehouse and get packaged out with your shipment.
Those that already have a keyboard in shipment will get their homing keys in a separate package.
Nice okay. Thanks for replying!
Might get it barebones though. I have extra switches laying around, and I have a pending purchase on some GMK Laser sets from my area hehe.
I just received mine. I was very excited to get it, but I am a bit disappointed honestly. The renders show a much deeper purple that closely matches the modifier keys. What I received was a light purple almost lavender color. I hope this is just my particular board and I can get a replacement. However, looking at other pictures, it seems to not be the case.
I even suspect that in order to push out this delayed batch of laser high-pro alts, they did not anodize the cases for long enough for the deep purple to settle in (I apologize if this sounds stupid but I have no idea how it works).
The previous update that I posted was here. Since then, production has firmed up and we're expecting the keyboards to be completely assembled as of March 23rd. From that point, they need to be shipped out of China, clear customs, arrive at our warehouse, and be reshipped to you. Assuming no delays (Which is a big assumption given the current global pandemic situation), people will have a tracking number by March 30th, 2020. This information is still speculative, I will be sending out an official "email update" to all participants once we have inbound tracking on the finished keyboards.
