The lack of 2nd 2u spacebar is frustrating here, especially as a couple of 1.5us are included. Your own boards support the former but not the latter (Planck and Preonic). Why have the 1.5u (only for Lily andCorne if I remember right) but not that additional spacebar which is used on a lot more Ortho designs (Planck, Preonic, Iris, Nyquist, Helix...)?

Agreed, there are a lot of reasons why modular tooling is a much better strategy. I have no idea why massdrop chose to do otherwise, but I don't think they're the only one. I'm pretty sure that JTK also does something similar, at least with their new tripleshot tooling. It seems like a very wasteful and inflexible way of producing something like a keycap set.

So... any idea why they thought 2x1.5u was more important than 2x2u? If the 1.5u’s weren’t included the lack of second 2u would be less confusing.

Those are pbt dye sub caps, completely different manufacturing process so it doesn’t follow the same (any, really) constraints.

Can you please, please, PLEASE include an R5 kit/row? I love Dasher but the R4-only offering makes me sad. I had to borrow some R5s from /dev/tty and flip around the bottom row to make it not awful.

Hey everyone,
Just wanted to let you know that the F1-F4 and F9-F12 keys that shipped with the Dasher set are the incorrect base color. There was a mixup with our layout files leading to the wrong ones being made (they look good, regardless!)
We've gotten replacements made and they're on their way to our warehouse now. Once they arrive we'll be shipping everyone the 8 replacement keycaps.

Concerning the MT3 profile is R4 roughly the same angle as R2 when flipped 180?

Will this ever get a spacebar kit? You have the molds for other MT3 kits, just use them.

EdTheNerdI would love to see this. Even if it was just in the Dasher alpha color, it'd still work with Dancer too. I have so many split-spacebar boards either set would look great on, but nope.

yeah, I have an Arisu layout board on the way and this just wouldnt work.
Im still grabbing it thanks to the BOGO going on now as I was getting the Susuwatari base and spaces anyway, but that set is proof molds already exist.
Come on drop, just put the blue plastic in there. This goes for all your other MT3 sets.

Huh? Some MT3 drops have had a range of kits, such as 3277 or Susuwatari. Others have just the one base kit. Which one is "due to the tooling"?

sevenseacatAll of it is related to tooling. New legends, new novelties, new kit compositions. 3277 is going to require some new tooling.
We can make all of Susuwatari's kits in different colorways, but given they'll all use the same set of tools, some are more economical than others. Changing molds on and off the machine takes the same amount of time no matter what kit is being produced. Base kits outsell all of the other kits, so we started with them. Nothing says we won't add more kits in the future.

My wallet thanks drop for not releasing these colorways in a form that will fit my preferred layout, even as I look on them wanting to purchase... only the lack of 2x2U spacebars keeps me away...

My point was that I think more people own planks and preonics. And regardless wether that’s true, Drop sells these while they do not sell anything that uses 1.5u.

So many beautiful sets coming out and no money to afford them.
As if people did not get pay cuts due to Covid.
I feel like this niche market/hobby as small as it is is reaching oversaturation with parts.
And these GB's are gonna reach fewer and fewer numbers.
Only thing that could sustain it is constant rise in popularity which I guess is happening.

If they are making profit, then maybe they do feel the "bubble is gonna burst" soon and they are pushing out as many GBs to profit while they can.
Maybe all this is in my imagination and I'm just salty because I'm poor. 😁
