The kitting is an improvement! No new molds, alas, but it is possible to fill out an 1800 with help from the child kits. And the ISO kit isn't super expensive!
Hopefully the child kits remain in stock as long as the base does - my fear is they'll sell out fast, and leave the abridged base kit less useful, like /dev/tty with its permanently sold-out add-ons.
Weird that the Enter keys don't get accented versions; I'm still holding out hope for an eventual set of universal MT3 accent kits.
They miss so many opportunities by recycling the Susuwatari novelties. Like, what do 8-bit aliens and Amiga logos have to do with Fairlane, which I guess is supposed to be car-themed? Toss some vintage car novelties onto the GUI keys, or make the function keys look like engine warning lights. The numpad could have gear shift legends.
That's just one example. Each MT3 kit should have its own personality!
They really dropped the ball not including at least ONE other color here, considering it's name & them. The Ortho set looks PAINFULLY boring. Like, it's awkwardly uncreative. :(
Some deep, not-too-saturated Amber/Gold, or some Gray (Warm or Cold), would have done SO much for this set. Even another shade of either Teal or Navy for some more accent would have sent this to the moon...
In it's current state, it's just rediculous that we still have to buy more from a DIFFERENT sets just to make this look "complete", or as good as it could...
And I can totally see people blindly-supporting Drop as always, and saying, "Ohh, just buy Dev/tty/ bars, or, this set, or blah blah blah." - that's not the point & other sets weren't made w/ this one in-mind. So it WONT be *perfectly* fitting.
So the shipping date has now been pushed from the 6th to the 17th and then to the 31st without drop giving any reasons or updates on it... Is this how drop is doing business nowadays? Can anyone explain?
sevenseacatDitto, but also because no R5 support (yes, I am aware of the no-R5-for-doubleshot-molds issue).
Nice looking set, but while I can forgive not offering Colemak, R4 isn't forgiving to my thumbs so I correspondingly can't forgive lack of R5 option.
Love the colorway. Really nice but there’s so much missing. No accent spacebar or enter key, the accent keys that are there won’t look right on the board without those to balance them and, of course, no unique novelty keys for the set. All that said, I love the color and the MT3 profile and with the Keycap Club discount it’s an insta buy.
