Two and a half years ago admgc posted his initial concept for Greenscreen and cited this photo

as his inspiration for the set. It immediately transported me to one of my earliest experiences with computers in the late 80s where I spent hours experimenting with an IBM terminal while staying for a week at my uncle’s house one summer. I had no manual and nobody else knew anything about the computer so through trial and error I was able to brute-force my way through a few basic commands. The excitement I felt when I would finally get a valid response from my inputs is a memory that always brings a smile to my face.
I think the colors in this set capture that vintage computing imagery perfectly and I am humbled that admgc incorporated my suggestions as well as putting up with my pestering to bring it to life over the last couple years. I hope you are as excited as I am to relive the 70s and 80s by adorning your biggest, loudest, and beigest keyboard with this set. I’d also love to hear about your favorite “green screen” experience!
So at what point do I stop buying keycap sets? Is 4 cap sets without a board a good stopping point? If so then I'm buying Amber.
Also, I'm trying to make an iris with only one 2.25u key in the thumb cluster and the rest all 1u. What sets do I need for this to look decent?
Reasonably priced 60% modifier kits would be a game changer. I don't always use stock layouts for 60% keyboards, but I would if it meant complete coverage for like $70 for SP and GMK sets.

I'll disagree on the bait and switch aspect, because that's how group buys for SP keysets are typically listed, but I'll definitely agree that the gap between the lower cost alphas and the modifiers needed to complete a board is very large (possibly unnecessarily so) this time around.
Really cool looking set but I will pass because of the badly organized modifiers. Half of the keys in modifiers are garbage for my TKLs. I really don't understand why you did not follow SA Oblivion kits.
Then again, the problem with merging it in one is you are left with too many unused keys. The unused keys are not even enough to be paired with another set of alphas. At least if the mods and extensions are split, there are plenty of choices/options.
gorbachevOh no . Not this again.
What should the main pricing say ? Price for mods ? or for the keys you would need for a 104 key board ? a TKL or 60% user may find that misleading, or a 96 key layout ? what about folks who just want the novelties or are outfitting a macro-pad or a numpad ?
This is the best way a multi kit drop can work. The matrix is there for a reason.
I totally get the sticker shock, but the kits are there for maximum flexibility for most users.
gorbachevAbout all they could replace the base price with would be something like "See overview for pricing." But that doesn't really help anyone either. At least by highlighting the Alphas kit cost, someone can compare this drop with Alpha kits from other Signature Plastic's SA keycap drops, and see when lower price points are reached.
This is exactly why I love it. I went all in on standard alpha clusters, including the ridiculous 2.75 RShift. Pok3r was my daily driver. But now I use a Race 3 and a Core (Vortex fanboy apparently) and I can't use my 1976, Modern Selectric, Jukebox, Carbon, Canvas, Dasher, or /dev/tty. (I've fixed that with Canvas R2 and with Carbon in last week's MD re-cap.) But you know what I can use? The GMK sets that shipped with a 1.75 RShift and 1u mods. I'm all for having a more versatile base.

For what it is worth, I do acknowledge that the approach of a all-in-one Modifiers kit in a MD-run SA buy was probably not the best idea after all. I have gathered everyone's feedback on this and will evaluate for future SA buys.
Thanks to everyone that joined regardless even though they only need to cover a 60% or similar! I am sure we can hit the 99$ price point at least towards the end. We are close and still have a week left, with many joining in the last 48 hours.
OblotzkySince the order to SP hasn’t been placed yet, could MD break the Mod kit into two for this drop, giving everyone the option to revise their purchases and maybe increasing the total purchases by making the drop more affordable? My guess is it‘s too late, but thought I’d ask.
OblotzkyHaving to pay $100+ for modifiers and only needing less than 10 of them for the Massdrop ALT is ridiculous. Why aren't there options for 65%/TKL modifiers option? With a smaller modifiers set (so that people can buy it for Massdrop KBs like ALT and CTRL), people can have the money to buy a novelty/led kit set.
For anyone looking for a hot-swappable TKL for this keycap set, I think the powder coat color of the CTRL keyboard is a great match. The CTRL drop closes in 6 days, so there is still time...
