From a design perspective, our goal was to make this a premium board and we believe we've hit the mark with this offering. Calling a luxury sedan overpriced relative to a budget compact because "they both have 4 wheels, 5 seats, doors and a steering wheel" is clearly overly reductive. The same applies to the SENSE, where we've worked extremely hard to give it a premium fit and finish from many angles. Understandably, it's hard for people to appreciate that without having held one in your hand or using it. Engineering a gasket mount keyboard correctly, to feel like a true gasket mount, is very difficult. That's why so many keyboards are "gasket in name only". This is something that is very difficult to correct/solve/mod after purchase. We took a ton of time to measure, adjust and finalize our gasket mount system and we're extremely happy with the results:

Similarly, aluminum cases aren't all made equally. The material you're using, the minute details of each edge, the finishing quality all add to the machine time and ultimately the cost. But to us, these improvements are worthwhile addition. Here's a macro image of the SENSE75 relative to two other keyboards:

We are aware that the sound profile of a keyboard matters, but it's also one of the most subjective elements of the hobby. It's heavily contingent on your setup (switches, stabs, plate material, lubrication, keycaps, desk mat), and it's one that is the easiest to modify after-market for those who value it. Lastly, it often matters the least since many users (especially from Drop.com) are wearing headphones listening to music or gaming while using their keyboards. What we've done here is balance the sound profile effects with other factors instead of sacrificing other features just to chase a better sound (for example, the thinner foam is to provide more room within the case for the gasket mount to compress. Another example would be that HPX switches "feel better" but "sound worse" than OG HP switches.). The SENSE75 isn't a perfect keyboard, but no keyboard is. The enthusiast level of the hobby is about modifications, and customizing a keyboard to be perfect for you. We believe this platform gives you the room to achieve that, versus hindering advancement with dead-end design limitations. Simultaneously, the SENSE75 gives less-enthusiast users a fantastic off-the-shelf experience with premium components. The best part is you don't have to trust a word that we're saying, just give it a try and if you don't like it, send it back to us for a full refund. Happy typing!
This conversation is getting a bit off-topic so I'll stop here. Happy to continue via email if anything you'd like to add. Regarding the keyboard - we always collect feedback from many community members. Whether the feedback or decisions made based on those are accurate that's a separate thing. The most important is that the final product delivered meets our customers' expectations, which is yet to be seen. We'll be working hard to reach that point.

KevinEven the q1 is consider bad value now for 200 dollars including shipping, the akko monsgeek M1 comes with pe foam mod, tape mod, holee mod, pc plate, full aluminum, knob and brass weights only cost 99 dollars, and drop just comes in with the shittiest board for 350 dollars
I'm an old guy. I grew up on IBM's "M" keyboards (I had an office full) and have been retired 20 years. All I can say about a $350 keyboard is that there truly is one born every minute. That is all.

Few things generate more second-hand embarrassment than an "old man" that chooses to act like a bratty child. That's already bad enough, but this guy compounds things by "winning" an argument about how expensive the Model M was by bragging about them being packaged with systems. THEN pulls the classic "old man" play of saying 'all you need' is a $140 keyboard with Cherry Blues, which any knowledgeable enthusiast could accurately assume is a SIGNIFICANTLY overpriced pre-built. That horrific Best Buy zone populated by brands like Razer, Corsair, and Logitech; where you're paying almost entirely for brand recognition while quality suffers from cut corners like thin, laser-ablated keycaps that are always greasy, floppy stabilizers that offensively rattle, the ever present scourge of "gamer" design augmented with unicorn rainbow puke lighting that requires the installation of massive utilities that demand online accounts and background services that reports your data back to HQ to be bundled up and sold off. Honestly, if you're condemning people that buy expensive keyboards as fools, you are VERY MUCH in that camp when genuinely good quality boards can be picked up all day on Amazon for easily half of what you're bragging about paying 😏

Why people buy a 349 dollar keyboard that have the same features as an 99 dollar one, just get the monsgeek M1, even the keychron q1 is better than this, and it came out 2 years ago.

Quick update to share with you all: One benefit of an engaged community is the ability to quickly access feedback, opinion, and insight. This is the whole point of getting prototypes out to community experts before mass production starts - we're able to respond to feedback. In this case, the sound qualities of the SENSE75. As you've seen us say elsewhere, we consciously chose to optimize for gasket performance. In fact, our original design featured more foam material inside for increased sound dampening effect but we lessened it to improve gasket performance. Clearly, some users care more about the acoustic properties than flex when evaluating a premium experience. Completely fair. Further, we agree a premium keyboard should allow for but not require modding to have a premium experience out of the box. So, we're restoring some of our previous design intent and adding additional features aimed specifically at sound performance. Our aim is to give you an ability to balance the dampening vs gasket movement to your preference. These enhancements will be built into production from day 1 so all those who have already ordered will also get them. The team is hard at work proving out these improvements and we'll share them with you along with a few other updates on SENSE75 products and mod accessories. Expect more Drop Studio Stories soon.

You might have had a point until you brought up Glorious. The GMMK Pro has the opposite problem of the Sense, stuffed to the brim with so much sound dampening with overly compressed gasket mounts that it might as well not have been gasket-mounted in the first place. Along with terrible and half-implemented VIA support (the QMK/VIA community had to step in and implement proper RGB support... and did it before Glorious did), the Pro is an example of what NOT to do.

DuckferdI was being sarcastic about Glorious. Apologies I should have made it more clear.
Hey everyone! Today we are launching our first new flagship keyboard in some time, the SENSE75. Designed to incorporate many of the more premium developments in keyboards of the last few years, the SENSE75 is the first in our line of higher-end mechanical keyboards. Shipping stock with a gasket-mount design, Holy Panda X switches, Phantom PCB-mount stabilizers, and a DCX keycap sets, the SENSE75 offers a compelling out-of-the-box experience for newcomers or veterans alike. And for those that are seeking a more unique and personalized typing experience, we will be releasing alternative plates (stock plate is aluminum), weight designs/colors, and dampening materials to fine-tune the look and feel to your liking. Video reviews: Keybored Additionally, take a look at these videos that we've put together to show how it sounds and can be modified: Sound Test with Aluminum Plate (stock) Sound Test with FR4 Plate

Clarification on the First 500 Bundle The limited edition novelty keycap and the carrying case will ship with the SENSE75 from our warehouse when the keyboard arrives and is ready to ship. After that point, we will reach out to all qualifying customers and send them unique coupon codes for a free MT3 base kit (shipping will also be free for this kit). After the first 500 units are sold, the product page will show Sold Out - if you are able to order still and the page shows the promotional bundle, you will receive the bundle. If you have any questions let me know and I'll do my best to answer! :) Edit: Added clarification on the bundle Edit: Added Keybored review

Just posted an overall update about it - MT3 coupon codes will be sent end of December.

Was curious what it sounded like since it was nowhere to be found. Found the typing test and had to cancel my order till reviewers get to test it out and use different switches (linears). $400 is too much for me to grab and then regret later maybe there will even be a barebones kit by then since nowadays nobody wants a fullbuilt when so much customization exists. I already have my switches and caps just need the board. its a shame cuz yea that test sounded AWFUL
i dont necessarily disagree with you..... but the target market being gamers is out of the question with south facing switches and no shine through (yes, its still the driving factor by a margin of 100 to 1, and drop knows this) every point on this list is squarely "enthusiast" based. south facing switches. pcb mounted stabs. some sound dampening (although it looks questionable in keyboreds review/mods). gasket mount design. additional case weighting. etc. NONE of that is something the "gamer" or newbies know about, care about, and certainly arent going to fork out cash for. they look at this... look at the gmmk pro or the q1... and wonder what in the world this is twice the price for. this board certainly has potential.... but drop has just bungled this release, terribly bad. and its a hard sell at this price point

mdotSee, I can see at least some gamers/newbies reading "north-facing switches are bad, plate-mount stabs are bad" here or elsewhere on the internet, absorbing that, and wanting something that doesn't have those features. (Even if they don't get why those things are looked down upon.) So they see this and think hey, this has those things I'm supposed to want, it must be worth the extra $150. At least, Drop is hoping that happens. Is it worth that? No. You're right, it sits halfway between what enthusiasts want, and what gamers want. And neither group will be super satisfied getting half of what they want at this price point.

invyr, mech27, and Quakemz are paid for every hpx switch that is sold. mech27s payments were contingent on him reimbursing participants from the failed keyboard group buy from years past.

I meant that in terms of quality they are about the same since we're comparing the value of drop's $350 package vs glorious' $350 package. Of course they don't feel or sound the same.

The irony of making a SENSE75 novelty keycap depicting an ISO Enter when the board it's celebrating doesn't support ISO. Doesn't make a whole lot of SENSE.

KevinZOMGI'm not a big fan of the sound, but at least that can be modded. No ISO support is an absolute deal-breaker, though. Every other competing board in this form factor (save for the Portico75) comes in or can handle multiple layouts.

I have money to spend on this ludicrous hobby of ours, but have to admit that for what's offered for this price point I'd feel ripped off. Besides, the buy this for big bucks and get this, this and this free... nothing is free. You pay for it, you could have shown pics of the so-called 'free' stuff. Perhaps that would have persuaded me to buy it. As it stands now, it's a hard pass (unfortunately).

Thank you so much! I didn't see that at all. Looking at it closely I'm not that impressed though. Think I'm gonna go for the CTRL instead, I put off buying it when I heard about the new board. I like the black CTRL a lot.
SoeiTotally fair! As much fun as the novelty cap is, it's probably not a major deciding factor for anyone. :)
Boy, sure are a lot of valid criticism posted on August 30-31 showing up further down than comments made in July despite sorting comments by newest first. Far from the first time I've seen it. Drop, doing this is a really bad look. Since my comment from Aug31 is apparently now earlier than one made Jul28, I'll just go ahead and repost it here. I'd like to see Drop actually address concerns vs try to burry them, because that in itself is a response, and a quite bad one at that. Original comment: Wow, in stock form on Keybored's video this thing sounded like a clicky switch razer, and he says the barebones is gonna be $250? For all they hyping up this got, this is incredibly underwhelming in a market where a fully built Keychron Q1 with lubed switches and stabs already exists for $200 with prime shipping. Not to mention the $50 premium for the ewhite option bringing the board to $400 is out of line with the typical $10-20 premium you see on much smaller batches, going the opposite of what economies of scale would allow drop. I do hope Drop will act on all the feedback about the poor value on offer here because the board does look good and is passable once you do Keybored's mods. As-is, this is going to be a very hard sell once you don't include an MT3 base set with it
