"Dwarves are not heroes, but a calculating folk with a great idea of the value of money."
This quote from Tolkien about dwarves resonated with me as I opened the box and gazed on these keycaps. Bought the Hardcore Dwarven Set, Numpad Set, and the Alduin Artisan Keycap as a gift for my brother. A value for my money indeed!
These look great in the retro profile. I don't really like most of the novelties, because why would a dwarf have pictures of Smaug on his keyboard :D But the base and modifiers are awesome.
I love these keys! Everything front the look, feel and novelty of having dwarvish keycaps is brilliant. My only criticism is that there isn't the option for the British/English layout keys " £ @ ' # ~
In the end I resorted to removing the print from some of the spares (Which wasn't easy, no worries about the print wearing) and wrote them on myself with a permanent marker.
Not ideal, especially given the price, but well worth the work for the finished set. I'd also recommend the artisan keycaps.
To start I got these keycaps on sale. Not sure if I would have paid the full price but they are definitely high quality premium keycaps and for the price I paid I'm more than satisfied.
In my short time with them I've typed, worked and played games on these keycaps and no complaints from me. The dwarvish legends look great. Although some people might find the keycaps quite busy visually since there is a lot going on, however personally I like it :) The middle earth themed packaging was also a nice touch :)
Hope to see some dwarvish themed artisan keycaps to complete my keyboard!
I am a fan of the LoTR and specially of the dwarves, so I did not think too much about it when Drop released a MT3 keyset, despite the kind-of-high price.
I regret NOTHING. about the money spent in these keycaps. The dye-sub legends on this set are great (they look better than other MT3 sets using the same technique). The colors are also great, they are between classic grey with a vintage touch. I'd say that the color accents are almost a must to tie everything together.
