I bought this to use with my aged earstudio es100 (v1), and to see if the FiiO BTR5 is as good as people claim. The idea was to have something that connected my HD650 to a decent, portable source without 2m of cable and without clunky adapters. In this context, this cable is perfect for me. (Also the BTR5 is impressively not awful). I get that its expensive when compared to the Sennheiser branded replacements for either 3.5mm or 6.3 mm, and I get that I could easily buy the Sennheiser branded replacement for less (or some aftermarket version of the same from teh webz) and not-so-easily solder on my own 2.5mm 4-pin plug, and I get that I could buy some audio jewelry version of this exact cable from teh webz for about the same amount, maybe even one dollar less, BUT, I am older than I was when I started this game, I've got kids, and I don't have time (or frankly patience) to solder a 4-pole 2.5mm plug onto either the stock 3.5mm cable or some audio jewelry version of the same. This is not everyone's case, and 10 years ago I would have scoffed at spending $50 on this, but I am totally willing to pay that to get it now, with no fuss, in black (not copper/silver/clear/fancy braided with gold body connectors) at a length that is perfect for its application. The cable is actually more flexible than my stock cable (nice) and the fit and finish is on par with the stock cable, maybe even a little better (also nice). The headphone connector pieces are genuine Sennheiser, connect solidly, and stay put. The length is IDEAL for the application, and I appreciate that very much. So in conclusion, would buy again if needed, would recommend purchase to anyone who doesn't want to solder or navigate the 3d party seller crowd on amazon/ebay/ali/rakuten/etc.

Similar quality as sennheiser stock cable, but the length is shorter.
I use this cable with Drop 4-pin Xlr to 2.5 mm TRRS adapter to connect my HD58X headphone to THX 789 amp. My 789 amp is connected to DAC with XLR cables. The sound from balanced XLR port had higher volume, more dynamic range, and clearer. I guess to use the full potential of THX 789 amp, balanced cables are essential. My only complain is that the length of this cable is a little short to be used in desktop setup. I also compared with this cable with chi-fi under $30 silver coated balanced cable, and found that the sound was much cleaner and more bass with this cable, but a little less treble.

Does the job. Acceptable quality.
Wanted a cable to connect the HD58X & HD6XX to an A&K DAP 2.5mm balanced out without needing adapters. Couldn’t hear any difference to the sound compared to stock cable supplied with HD6XX & HD58X. Not a bad thing IMO.

Great OEM style balanced cable
I am using this with the FiiO BTR5 and the HD 6XX. This is a match made in heaven as the cable is short and the BTR5 can put out big power in balanced mode. The cable is a little softer and lighter than the stock cable which makes it perfect in my opinion. Can you find ChiFi balanced cables online for cheaper? Sure. I do not like waiting weeks for my items to arrive or flashy silver/copper cables on my cans. I have bought balanced cables for my IEMs from overseas, though. Overall I think the price is on par with competing products sold in the US and I am very happy with my purchase...

BAD
I received a product with pretty noticeable manufacturing defects on the cable. Gave DROP over a week to respond to my warranty request but have heard NOTHING from them.

Good for Untethered Setups
I got this cable to connect my BTR5 to my HD6XX. The cable is 4 feet, flexible, and high quality. It is well suited for setups where you are going to connect to portable devices with a TRRS 2.5mm jack. (e.g. Bluetooth DACs, portable media players, etc.) I can walk around untethered while still listening to music on my HD6XX. I can run the cable to my pocket where I keep my BTR-5 without a lot of extra cable. It even came with a Velcro strap for cable management. Add a modmic wireless and you have very high quality wireless headset.

This cable also works well for short run setups where the DAC is within arm’s reach. I would recommend this cable if you are using it with mobile devices or desktop DAC setups, otherwise it may be too short. Perfect for Bluetooth DACs like the BTR5.

Perfect for the EarStudio dac.
Originally got this to use the balanced output on the ES100 to better power my hd6xx. Besides the increase in volume these provide, I noticed better (deeper?) bass from the 6xx, although it seemed to add unneeded emphasis to the highs making them more fatiguing. No noticeable improvement in soundstage, but the cleaner bass and added clarity does create the perception of a more open sound. The improvement to the 6xx is minor compared to the improvement to the hd58x in my opinion. My jubilee's are now my dedicated music cans and I've since left my 6xx plugged into my Magni and use them only for gaming. This cable is definitely worth getting if you own the hd58x.

Ahhh I see, I didn't know it was a tube. I'd imagine with the right tube you could definitely enhance the highs on the jubilees. Was considering a hybrid myself but I got a pair of he4xxs instead lol. Definitely want a tube hybrid when I can afford it though

The intention of a balanced connection is simply to provide more power to the headphones, any change in perceived sound is simply because the drivers have plenty of power to reproduce at their full potential. In a balanced connection you have 2 grounding posts, one for each channel, as opposed to an unbalanced connection which use a single grounding post for both channels.

A bit short
Cable is fine, but a bit short. 1.5m is a better length, I feel.

Terrible value get it elsewhere
50 dollars for a headphone cable? And a shorter cable at that. Terrible value specifically considering that you can get it for half the price from sennheiser on Amazon. Insulting.

Very useful if you don't own a strong Amp. Can really tell the difference when using this cable vs the default one when plugged to my Btr5
