I own this microscope. It's not terrible, but you should know:
- It does NOT zoom to 600x (even though advertised as such) - It does NOT have a 1080p display (even though advertised as such) - At $79.99, you're paying MORE than the price it's always at on eBay ($55 with adjustable stand, $40 with basic stand) or pretty much anywhere selling it.
Getting more and more disappointed with Massdrop's prices and knowledgeability on what they sell.

Edit: Kris_K deleted this comment as well, implying the Elecrow microscope was as described, and that the other ones were fakes.
Few things;
- That is not 600x. Even if you consider it as a 24-25x zoom in two dimensions (misleading), it still does not zoom up to that. - I am aware that it says 1080p on the screen. However this is not a 1080p resolution screen; it is 480x272. - Would be curious to see where you have obtained that information that the ones selling on eBay are any different.

Edit: Kris_K appears to have deleted his second comment. For transparency's sake, he said "Are you sure?"
Why don't you open one up and have someone knowledgeable take a look...

Benjamin6264Maybe it can film/take pictures in 1080p and save that on the memory card, but the claim that it has a "4.3-inch OLED display that offers a 1080p HD resolution to give you a clear look under the lens" is absolute bull.

Benjamin6264Still wondering where you got that idea that these are different from those sold everywhere else, by the way. As an assistant buyer, it should be the least of your responsibilities to provide accurate information, or at the least not spread falsehoods.

Benjamin6264Hello, its Chris from Elecrow and also my pleasure to answer your concerns. ForQ1, The actual optical magnification of the lens is about 150 times. There are buttons on the display for digital software amplification. It can be adjusted, 1x, 2x, 4x. Press the left and right arrow keys to adjust, so the combined magnification is about 600 times. .(Digital magnification)

For Q2:This is a description of the supported resolutions for taking photos and recording videos. Adjustments can be made by: MENU (press the menu button) >> OK (press OK to enter the first resolution adjustment) >> ← → Make selection (1080P, 720P, VGA for different picture and video resolution).

ElecrowHi Chris. Thanks for your detailed reply. However the main concern lies in the description on this drop, stating that the screen itself has a 1080p resolution, which is not the case. I also think that to claim a 150x zoom digitally increased to 600x is not the same as a 600x zoom, and that claim is pretty misleading.
