Answer to your question is, hands down, a resounding 'yes' Coincidentally, those are the exact same reasons I was/am looking for an iron when I started my search. I would seriously advise you to download the manuals for the 888 from both the hakko worldwide AND the US website as there is information missing in one that is present in the other and vice versa. Read them both and understand how the button controls work so when you get it, you don't accidentally re-calibrate it when all you wanted to do was change the temperature and it also tells you how to enable the presets function, etc. The above is highly recommended to the point of being almost mandatory.

If the FX-888D is in my budget I should get that instead of this then right? Im looking to build a keyboard and I have like 8 rpi's just sitting in my room unused so I'm going to do some rpi things too or would this be overkill
