If you own the Emu Walnuts try the Brainwavs perforated oval pads for the Sony MDR 7506. I had a pair lying around because they came well after I sold my 7506s so I threw them on my Walnuts on a whim and they are a great match. They tighten the bass up a bit, give the treble a little more air/extension, and the soundstage widens noticably. They're also very comfortable which makes these pads a great pick in my book. I edited my review to include my findings about these pads and a link, which I will include below, but you can also hit Amazon and search for "Brainwavs perforated sony mdr 7506" and you'll find them. Wow, I can't believe that the CAL!/D1001 has yet to die. Practically the Fostex equivalent of the Koss KSC75/Portapro in that respect by now. Those wooden cups look great, too. I like the Denon D1200 better, though. ;P

Man I've been staring at this for 3 days now, anyone with the bigger brothers (E-Mu Teak, TH-X00.....etc) can comment on their experience? I want something lighter and more comfortable to use than my Denon D5200, but would the sound quality difference be really noticeable? Also I'm reading conflicting reviews regarding comfort. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Yup, the mids were just too recessed for me. With bass that heavy and treble that bright I just found myself missing some presence in the mids to bring them together, you know what I mean? I tried Lawton TH900s with both type 2 and type 3 cups as they are supposed to be the two that offer the most balance and recovery of the mids. The type 3s in particular did a decent job, but it just wasn't enough for me. Don't get me wrong though, on the right tracks yhe TH900s can be killer and I definitely get why they have a loyal following. Keep in mind, I'm not a basshead by any means. Most of my headphones don't stray very far from neutral. The Teaks and the various Fostex and Denons and such before them are basically my only truly bassy over ears because I like to have a solid bassy option available. And yeah, audio time is several times faster than regular time. Kinda like dog years lol!

jbcalbears5150lol oh yeah I can totally see what you mean about the mids, though I think ear pad helps a lot. Smaller ear hole = more mids. So the stock big hole TH900 earpad is bound to have sucked out mids. And yes I remember Teak being the Fostex with the most mids. I just couldn't fix the vocal recession no matter what I did otherwise it would've been good. It's ok different trade off haha. Also different taste for different people so it's all good!

QuadsI've had that question myself and looked all over the Internet, and I couldn't find not even a Made in China in the pictures I've seen, so I assume that means they're indeed made in China.
