But in all seriousness glad to see this is open to internationals, even when most magic products can't be.
Hey guys, I have some great news for this drop. We worked with the vendor and communicated your concerns that Fate Reforged seems to have a lower expected value. In response, the vendor agreed to drop both drop prices by $25.
I've updated the drop to reflect the new pricing. Enjoy!
I like this drop in theory. I see the utility of doing a playset pack like this and would like to see it happen for sets in the future, but the pricing on this particular one just doesn't work. On top of that, this particular option was a bit unexpected, so I made other arrangements to buy some FRF elsewhere. Anyway, figure out how to get pricing to at least match other sellers' (shipping included) and I'm interested for future sets--especially the upcoming core set.
PaycoThanks for the feedback! The price of this type of drop is going to be determined by the size of the set and the cost of a booster box, rather than the secondary value of the cards, so hopefully we will have opportunities to do it where the price is fantastic because there are lots of high-value rares in a set.
Regardless of how this drop does, we will work on bringing these back. I also really value a good way to get Magic to our international community members, who don't usually have the chance to get in on sealed product drops.
According to http://mtg.dawnglare.com/?p=viz, the value of the rares in this drop are $152. Someone else mentioned the uncommons are about another $35. Still not a good deal even if you can use most of the cards this comes with.
Pretty sure what happened here is a store opened a bunch of packs to have Mythics singles to sell, which unlike many sets, make up the vast bulk of the value here. The remaining cards they are trying to sell off with this. This would be a great deal for KTK based on fetches alone, but for this set it's not worth it.
Save your money. Buy the singles you need for the decks you want to play! This is absolutely pointless. Without Fetches/Coursers/Elspeths/Thoughtsiezes etc you will not have a competitive deck. Most of your money is going to cards that will NEVER make it into a deck and have inflated 'new set' prices. Proceed with caution.
KrimsonMythics would add close to $400 to the cost at current pre-sale prices.
Additionally, you can buy a playset of all uncommons and commons for about $35. There are maybe only 8 rares worth more than $2 each currently and a playset of those rares comes to about $88 (at SCG prices), leaving a playset of the bulk rares to fill in the other $132 left of this purchase (at the lowest point--$1.22 for each copy; more if you lower the SCG prices of those 8 rares to where they should be).
FaolenWhile the fetch lands will be appearing in the land slot of the Fate Reforged booster packs, they are still part of the Khans of Tarkir set and bear the KTK symbol. As such, they won't be showing up in this Playset Pack (unfortunately).
