The PR refill looks a lot like a Parker, is it possible to fit a Parker Gel refill in this pen? (yes, I realize it kinda defeats the purpose) I have an older space pen with the U style and hate the way the ink flows (feels like a Bic) but have always loved how small it is when not in use.

bsastorShould have looked in my space pen before asking (duh), my space pen is using a PR1 Blue Med. and a Parker is larger around and longer in length.
I normally write with a Parker .7 Gel which has a very light drag on the paper but still leaves a well inked mark. My space pen needs more pressure and leaves a more gritty line. It's just a personal preference.

hyperspriteDon't get me wrong, it is a great front pocket pen when you don't want to touch whatever the cashier just handed you. It won't leak and always works, I was just looking for a more flowy ink to make one of these my daily writer.

hyperspritei'd prefer a more "flowy" pen for my daily pen too. in your sketch the space pen seems very light, maybe it's your writing pressure or the fact that these are two different types of ink.

bsastorI tried to use the same pressure for both examples and what I normally use to write. It could be darker with more pressure but that's not the way I write. Pens are such a personal thing, my wife prefers a finer point on her pens and I can't stand them so even in our own household there are her pens and my pens in the pen jar. :)

hyperspriteI believe the Parker refills are the same fit as the Fishers. I had a bullet Fisher Space pen a number of years ago and used to use the Parker Gel fine points after I got tired of getting globs of ink accumulating on the Fisher points if I didn't write with it every few days.

They look similar but the Parker is fatter and longer. It won't fit.

hyperspriteMy space pen had a plastic spacer that was used with the Fisher refills that could be removed that allowed the Parker refills to fit. It was the same length as the plastic bit on the end of the Parker refills that rotates for the retractable action.

Also, mine is brass all the way to the end inside (no plastic to remove), there is just not enough room inside the Spacepen for a Parker in any direction.
