Watching the FIYTA Photographer tick is mesmerizing, to say the least. With an airy skeleton case, it offers a view of nearly every aspect of the automatic movement—from the front or the back side Read More
ItsrainingI'd be willing to bet that you have watches in your collection that are made in China or have, let's say 40 percent of their innards made in China (thats the amount allowed to still use the Swiss Made label.). Most accessible watches that are 'Made in Germany' have 100 percent Chinese made parts and are assembled in Germany. You're pretty naive and uninformed
ItsrainingEvery decent microbrand that I know of has their manufacturing done in China. And 'assembled' is not the same as 'manufacture'. (good enough to get a 'Made In...' label though)
What is this watch’s connection to photography? Seems like some marketer was thinking “There are watches for pilots, cosmonauts, soldiers and sailors. Why not photographer?” At least put some effort in establishing some connection, like a “golden hour” sector on the dial. As a photographer, I would be ashamed if anyone would catch me wearing it.
Listen. This is just about enough. It's painfully obvious that you need to go down the street and check yourself into the nearest "facility". The men in the white coats will take good care of you, give you some candy and let you watch cartoons.
I'm also a photographer so I guess it's appropriate this watch caught my eye...
It's an eye-catching design for sure, at least initially. But I'm not sure how soon before that impression wears off, particularly if you closely examine the details.
The dial seems to be slightly off. Shouldn't the minute markers and digits located between 3 and 4 o'clock, where they are redundant, instead be located between 4 and 5 o'clock, where the "AUTOMATIC" inscription appears in place of the minute markers? Or, alternatively, have the "AUTOMATIC" inscription be between 3 and 4 o'clock. Then it would make sense to have a partial minute dial. Of course this may make it look too busy there with both appearing so close together.
Sapphire on top and bottom is a nice touch but the Miyota 8215 is a lower cost, lower beat movement than the 9015 which dominates automatic watches in this price range, particularly those from micro-brands .
So, an interesting design with some functional flaws, and components which to me suggest lower quality than what is typical in this price range.
DCullenVThat's funny. It's like the watch was originally designed by an outside designer who put the 16-19 in to compensate for the lost second markers around "Automatic," and then someone in-house who didn't realize what the original purpose of those numbers was tweaked the design a little.
the hamilton is hideous so are the others in budget range, dont bother with these, those cheap movement has nothing to show for, a good company would know to cover the moment up to not embarrass themeslve
bestairetYou got to give it up to the writer, he/she really made an effort,
I mean —"You can even see through the watch, as if looking at sunlight peeking through the clouds on an overcast day"
at least a landscape photographer sure would be related to that sentence.
$28 shipping?? So someone will personally deliver it and place it on my wrist?? Sheesh, the shipping costs just keep getting higher and higher and higher...
OK, I see your point. I wonder what would make this particular watch so much more expensive to ship to Australia than the others.
On the flip side of this, I am awaiting a watch coming in the reverse direction from Melbourne Watch Co. Purchased from MD and like this offering, the individual shipping cost is also $8.75 for the USA.
