Is it possible to plug in a second mic into line in (using an adapter, if so which adapter)?
Will this record two separate tracks or if i have two things plugged in will it combine it into 1 track

tiktakIf I'm not mistaken, that line in is not hot. Meaning, if you want to use two mics that require phantom power, it's not going to happen.
Try the 2i2 instead. https://www.massdrop.com/buy/focusrite-2i2

jgileswell assuming that i have a dynamic mic, which doesn't need phantom power, i should be able to get the second mic to work. that's just what i wanted to clarify.
I'm still wondering if i have 2 inputs will it be both recorded into a single track (using audacity) or will it be 2 different tracks

tiktakI'm curious about the same thing. From my understanding it should be able to do it because it is USB. I was told that one of the reasons why Mac users would opt for USB is because of multi-track recording, something that apparently Firewire can't do.
As for your microphone, there are adapters for everything, whether fanciful or realistic. Here's a link to one that seems promising. Assuming the microphone in question uses XLR of course. http://www.amazon.com/Hosa-XVM-115F-Microphone-Cable-Right-Angle/dp/B000068NZF/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1432252331&sr=1-5&keywords=xlr+to+3+5mm
