Hey everyone,
Just a quick check in on the 'pack mark' situation and what we're working on. Nothing is set in stone right now, but wanted to keep everyone in the loop.
We've been talking with Fostex a lot about what method would be the most ideal for everyone with blemished earcups. Right now we have a best bet solution that would require (what we think) is the lowest amount of effort for someone who has the bubblewrap marks on their earcups.
Fostex knows the exact composition of the lacquer and has had their engineers working on a very simple polishing kit that according to them fixes the issue perfectly and requires almost no effort. If this is the case then we can send all those affected this little kit and it would be a Fostex approved method for polishing up your earcups.
We're having a couple of these sent to our office in SF to see how simple and effective this kit is before we decide anything, but it seems like a hopeful resolution that doesn't require anyone to ship something back or disassemble their headphones.
Our plan currently is that we'll receive the kits and test their effectiveness. If they are a foolproof method and the results are perfect, then we'll send out the kits to all those affected so they can try it. If you are unsatisfied with the results then you'll still reserve the option to a return for a full refund.
We’re still working with Fostex and everyone here about further details, but I wanted to give you all an update before the weekend.
Have a good weekend everyone and I’ll keep you posted as I get more details.

AlexPkWhat about all the marks on the frame? Mine had obvious damage on the frames also
The lacquer on these is awfully thin too. Nothing compared to the th900. Would it take polishing well?

AlexPkMy headphones are perfect, but I can't help but worry about keeping them unmarked in the future. If the polish is approved by MD and Fostex, any chance those of us that were unaffected could also get some? I'd love to have the extra polish for future maintenance.

AlexPkWould it be possible to purchase one of these polish kits separately? Can you have support email me if that's a possibility? I will gladly pay for it + shipping.
MakillaGorilla85I would go ahead and contact Community Support and let them know. Might be that we can just send one out. Always worth checking.

AlexPkAs I've posted and contacted support previously, mine not only has the 'pack marks', but has flaws like uneven lacquer and small dents/holes in the lacquer that won't be solved by any 'polishing kit' . That's why I contacted support and requested replacement cups even if it meant disassembling my Purpleheart. Is the 'replacement cup' option still available or has that gone out the window?
RanomI think in the case that you want to keep your serial number we can figure out a way to do just cups. Let me work with support to be sure, but we'll want to fix all the replacement ones before sending them out.

AlexPkThanks for the reply! I'm not that obsessed with the serial # ; although mine @ low 100's ain't bad ; it's more about all the hassle and the absence of the headphone that would take place if I had to send the whole unit back. By sending back only the faulty cups I'd have minimum absence and would save shipping costs on my half too. But I do understand the situation , I'll just be patient.
