Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

On top of that, the HD 6XX are pretty good until I can find these or the E-Mu Teaks with a removeable cable. Alternatively, I wait too long and buy some Mr. Speakers...
That said, I WOULD like to see the cable being terminated to a 3.5mm jack instead of quarter inch, given the efficiency of these headphones.
How would I go about getting a pair of E-Mu Teaks from this Chan you speak of?
The TH-X00 on the other hand, are based after the TH-600 (and perhaps TH-900) parts. The manufacturing and assembly process is already there and ready to go. Making detachable cables well cause them to have to:
- Change the metal brackets - Change the cable or at least the termination of the L/R ends - Increase personnel (or slow down assembly) to solder on the jacks and terminate ends to some sort of smaller connector - Add an extra half circle hole at the edge of the wooden cups
Add this up with expenses of parts on a made to order process of those wanting detachable cables (connectors, jacks, shorter cables, additional internal wires, solder, etc) and you end up with increased expenses that are offloaded to us end consumers.
You can email Chan directly at enquiry@emu.com on how to purchase E-MU headphones and wooden cups. Make sure to ask for the ones with detachable cables.
$500 USD for the headphones with detachable cables (Teak, Rose, Mahogany, Purple Heart, Sabili or Zebra cups) Additional $20 for Ebony or Pola Santo cups. $20 for shipping.
