Wow, didn't expect this. I know I just took these out of the box, but where's all the bass I'm hearing about with these cans? My hope is with some good burn in time it'll bring it out. My Sony MDR-1A 's have so much more bass, tighter and much more low end then these. They're also "extremely " bright with teeth grinding and ear piercing highs. They're paired with a Magni 2 Uber and Modi 2 stack. Tell me guys I'm gonna like these in about 25 or so hours, Because right now I ain't feeling it.

RatdogYou are using headphones with a W-shaped sound signature on an amp known for being bright and thin. *shrugs* Make sure you are using low gain on the Magni 2U though. It will help, but the TH-X00 is usually better paired with warmer amps.

RatdogI would say try breaking them in overnight a couple times and try them on different audio sources. Also, as amoeba stated, these definitely don't require high gain mode on your amp. If you still don't notice any improvement regarding the lack/quality of bass and overly bright sound signature, then I'd suggest contacting Massdrop support about a possibly defective item. I did let them play for probably 10 hours straight last night between listening then going to bed. I did hear some slight bass enhancement, a little tighter with the highs being ressesed somewhat When I got up this morning.
I also took amoeba's advice and keep the amp on low gain. It is better. Good idea on different sources. I'll give it a shot with my Iphone with my DFR and Im using a Jot for my home theater. I may want to do a swap too.
Lastly, my first thought was and still is that these could be defective.

RatdogThat is always a possibility as well. Does anyone around you have a Denon D2000/D5000 or Fostex TH-600 to compare to?

amoeba1126Believe me when I say, no one that I know has any interest in anything more then a $15 seat of cheap headphones (can't even call them cans) let alone know who Denon or Fostex is. I'm on an island my friend! I'll just keep burning them in and see where they go or swap my Jot with the magni uber 2 and see if the signature changes for the better......or worse.
