This is my favorite everyday carry flashlight. It sits in my Leatherman Wave holster, along with the bit kit, and Fisher Space Pen. This light receives more use than any other flashlight that I carry. It is simple and reliable.

wish they brought back the colors! i have a first generation, and they came in this toxic green, and red-pink, but the price point hasn't changed at all (about 3 years ago), so thats nice! also, they had a titanium version for 20$ more

Any of you flashlight nuts know why there is little to no crossover between high end/output flashlights and bike lights?
Just curious because they essentially do the same but in different forms.
For example, I just bought a Cateye(Japanese) 6000l off-road light with 12 cell battery. It uses an unusual cob led and fan to keep cool and actually maintain that intensity... Pretty cool tech but very pricey at $800 Canadian.
It would be nice to have more competition.
It's just very bizarre considering they're near identical systems with completely different companies in each segment.

JakobAs you’re no doubt aware, there are plenty of flashlight bike mounts for standard flashlights.

NumsThen you will have to say that Eagletac, Streamlight, and Jetbeam are over-priced as well. Four/Sevens is hardly unique to the premium light market. You get what you pay for.

As a regular CPF reader/tester (the largest flashlight forum on the net), I was bummed to hear that David decide to sell Foursevens a few years ago. Then, I was glad to hear that they were purchased UNTIL I found out who purchased them. As someone here already opined, the company who purchased for sevens is going to do nothing with the products other than just keep making them however David et al built em.
Anyway- these suckers do indeed run clean off 10440 cells, but, one must be careful to watch those High Mode runtimes! I find my Preon 1 puts out an acceptable amount of brightness at medium level rather than high.
Decent light, although I'm not so sure as much of one at the 40$ "on sale" price point here. For example, I recently purchased a "cheapo" AAA off brand Chinese AAA light recently for 10$ off Amazon with a reverse clicky switch that's as good as this light and, even moreso when I ran 10440s in it.
The bottom line with websites like this, that don't cater to we flash o holic's it's better to do some homework online before you start making your flashlight purchases here. I'm not saying there aren't good deals here, because they are- but, you HAVE to be able to read through the BS sometimes to figure out what you're buying here. Caveat Emptor kids....

ColinsdadGood luck getting any kind of Customer Service, or any parts and repairs, when that “cheapo” Chinese light breaks.
Jason has great Customer Service and parts and repairs are available if needed. You’re getting a warranty with these lights. Not even Drop / Lumintop offers that with the lights featured here.

glennacGlennac- ABSOLUTELY agree! I'm on a security detail up here in Alaska and I'm carrying one of these lights as we speak and it's by far one of the best investments I've made as far as lighting goes. That being said, the lights are going to be a moot point in about 3 weeks when we hit 20 hours of daylight here. I've had some great conversations with Jason and cannot recommend him and his lights highly enough. My point of my post was that you may be better off buying from them directly rather than going through the group buy here. Thanks for your thoughts, they are appreciated!

Olight I3T, almost as much light as the 2 cell FS version, less money, better company, better tech.
Sorry, but ever since Prometheus bought FS there has been very little innovation and Olight, Fenix and Nightcore (among others I can’t think of off the top of my head) have left FS behind.

I have carried the Preon P1 for years in my Leatherman Sheath. It has been a great flashlight. It can be picky about the battery.

I've had a four sevens flashlight for about 5 years.
Gift from my youngest brother. Very very bright. The programmable settings are an interesting feature.
I liked to program mine for very low light with a medium bright on the alternate mode, when I am camping. Good for keeping night vision, but sometimes you need to light up a whole area.
When working I set for medium and super bright because in server rooms I don't care about my night vision.
Mine lost the programmability when it suffered an extended submersion on a camping trip. I don't blame 4 sevens because it was half unscrewed when it got soaked. Otherwise it would have probably survived fine.
The only con I have is that mine requires lithium cells, which are not common, and can be expensive.

CalaverasgrandeRechargeable lithium-ion cells are quite common nowadays and are well worth the investment. You can get Foursevens brand cells for $7 each on eBay or the ones recommended by Surefire, which are called K2 Energy. Very safe to use at around just $5-$6 per cell. Rechargeable hundreds of times. You can get a USB charger for as little as $10. Let me know if you need links to these items.
If you prefer primary cells (single-use, disposable), those are as little as $1 per cell at the BatteryJunction website, check their house brand called “Titanium Innovations”.
Very reliable, very affordable.
Lithium cells are always way overpriced on retail store shelves. Online, however, they’re neither uncommon nor expensive. Best of luck!
