Product Description
When used correctly, the karambit is one of the most formidable knives there is. While this one may not be quite as intimidating as some of the bigger guys, it’s certainly up to the task of opening letters, cutting food, slicing cardboard, and dissecting packaging Read More

Lol price just got lowered, yet it's still no cheaper than elsewhere (and still way overpriced, but that's Fox's fault, not MD's)

That he is!
One this short would be a great dedicated package opener, or arrow whittler? Might work well for cutting cordage too, it's practically a single serration! lol

It would be perfect for opening up all those knife box 📦 packages!
What's more useless than a karambit?
A tiny karambit.

I saw a YouTube video with some Asian dude wielding one. I would not like to confront him in an adversarial position unless I was far away and armed with an automatic. (Gun) He was amazing.

Is it 440A or 440C? To me that's a big difference. I have a Boker Magnum knife with regular 440A and it stays about as sharp as a butter knife. TOTAL POS

That's a damn good question, and something someone from MassDrop needs to clarify
I can't seem to find any angle that shows the steel type marked anywhere on the blade.
Some sites list it as 420, some list it as 440, some places (including BladeHQ) list it as 1.4116
Edit: forgot to add that Fox lists it as 1.4116 on their site: https://www.foxcutlery.com/n/en/product/1991/mini-ka.html
I've seen people comparing 1.4116 to anything from 420HC to 440A to Aus4 (I didn't even know that was a thing lol I've only seen 6 and 8) This may have something to do with the confusion in the specs on different sites that are trying to list a familiar equivalent
Zknives steel comparison grid puts it comparable to X50CrMoV15 (found in many softer "German stainless" kitchen knives)
In short, it's a cheap steel, with a cheap handle, that should come with a much cheaper price tag, IMO I still think it's interesting that it exists, but I refuse to pay near this price considering the size and materials

$65 for a Keychain with an inch of 440 on it? I love a quality small knife, but for this price they could've at least used a better steel and still made a profit

I was thinking the same 👍
KnifeCenter sells them for $55-57, but that's still too high (but s good amount cheaper than here)

KavikEdit: I'm also confused as every other site shows this with the fix logo on this side, but the clip on the reverse
Edit again lol Found a better pic on another site... Guess the clip is actually reversable. MD should definitely talk that up, get the lefty crowd in here...they're used to paying a premium over realistic costs anyway 🤣

BS like this is why the Chinese companies started coming out with their own lines. A tiny little knife made out of 440, with plastic scales for $75?!?! LMFAO. Even $45 is ridiculously overpriced.

Hmm I found this which looks like the same knife from a different seller https://m.aliexpress.com/item/32911345025.html?pid=808_0000_0101&spm=a2g0n.search-amp.list.32911345025&aff_trace_key=&aff_platform=msite&m_page_id=1009amp-Nw5RiJ0FWUmu__vfA8Nqhw1551452921101 and it says on this one that the blade is 5CR15 steel and the handle is 420 steel. What should I believe haha

tld_roninAlways up on the air whether the item matches the description and there are often multiple sellers of the same or very similar items. For the prices they offer, I have generally been very pleased. I have used the buyer protection a few times over the years when the item was broke or did not match the description and they only fought me on the refund once. Was not too worried about it, since it was only a couple bucks. Overall, it is usually a good deal.

This has got to be some kind of joke, right? I mean, come on, $45 for this itty bitty titty of a thing?!? Good one, Mass Drop. You had me going for a sec there. I was gonna... Wait, what? This isn't a joke!? For real!? Wow. I'm dumb founded. I feel sorry, yet still laughing at the 220 idiots who bought this for the asking price. That's a rediculous price for a knife that small made of 440 shit steel. You have got to be a complete ignoramus to join this drop. WTF, Mass Drop. I thought some prices were a little high but now I realize it's you guys that are high, asking for a price like that. Put down the bong and get your head out the clouds, bru. But for real though, I want whatever it is you guys are smoking over there, cuz it s gotta be some top shelf shit to think you'll actually get away with this rip off of a drop. GDP? ATF? Sour D? Some kind of strong Kush?? Is it a hybrid strain?? Inquiring minds want to know!

brahahaha. i have a fox, nice knife but they price them way over their worth. and this little letter opener for anything over 25 bucks is just silly. but then American Manufacturers lose to imports every day.. bets there's knock off counterfeits out there for under 20... they flood the markets with them.

SheepDog67True that. China is a unstopable force when it comes to just about any market out there. They'll do anything and eveything to try and stay one step ahead of the game. Just look at the vape industry. They've had that shit on lock since day one. It's insane.

I have the 479 and absolutely love it. My gf is always sayin how jealous of it she is, so I saw this and thought this would be perfect for her since shes so tiny too. Looked into the specs thinking it would be similar to the knife I already own, then I saw it..... 440 stainless...... between that and theres no real easy way to open it (one of the best features of the 479 I have, the emerson wave) I cant say how disappointed I am. If i wanted a small 440 stainless knife while spending $50+ Id run up to the asian import store nearby and buy 3-4 of their knives....

HumanitLostI was scratching my head about the deployment too, especially given how great the emerson wave works on their larger models. Can't really figure out if there is a way to efficiently open the design that ends with the blade in a functional position.

azraelsbladeWith good heat treatment, 440C has reasonable edge retention. It was once considered a wonderful steel.

14themoney440 is generally used when it's 440A, which is garbage. And I agree, 440C is undervalued. I like it.
