Maybe it's just me but I consider it a bit insulting that they can offer a decent tool steel for $6 extra but still feel the need to throw this 7 cr junk at you ! Just $39.99 them and offer them all in D2 , like all the other budget brands are doing ! Is Gerber aware of competition, who makes these decisions ?
RudolphMost people who buy Chinese Gerbers aren't "knife people" and just want something cheap and stainless. They aren't going to sharpen it anyway, so it will be permanently dull in a few weeks regardless. The perceived quality of a dull rusty knife (D2) is less than that of a dull shiny knife (7cr).

NotsurewhyibotherOpinel explains this a bit, although with different steels: https://www.opinel-usa.com/pages/opinel-steel-blades It's nice to find an old knife you lost in the high grass and many storms and still not be rusty. Also this is a budget knife most people will probably buy for looks, as opposed to some other expensive knives that are popular that are also designer knives. Unless you're doing surgery, a good knife can be cheap. The only pricier stuff that catches my attention as a tool is from Cold Steel, because YouTube shows them bending blades 90 degrees and not snapping, which is crazy. For cutting, an Opinel is cheap and does the job, nothing fancy or high tech. But this Asada looks slick.

DWNGExactly my though, blade length is one of the first things people look at when considering a knife.
Coming up on 2 weeks after the expected ship date. I see at least one person received theirs but I have not seen any activity on my order. Any updates when all orders will be shipped out?

$37.95 for the Micarta with D2 on Blade HQ once it’s available. This isn’t a good deal.
Anyone else's order get canceled? I sent them a message asking why we haven't had an update in 30 days and instead of responding they canceled it.

But it does appear I have some additional Drop credit now. So that's awesome and makes up for the non-existent communication around this product.

So this is basically an "improved" Flatiron?
JProllzIt's a smaller flatiron. 3in blade instead of 3.5. With that giant finger choil, it's not going to have much edge either. But at least it's heavy.

JProllzNo, it's not. Perhaps the D2 model is.

3 inch blade and averages $38 online. So not really a deal other than lots of places have it listed as coming soon. Drop not shipping until June anyway.

As much as I'd like to purchase this here, there's no incentive. As mentioned earlier Blade HQ has this set to sell at a better price point when available.

Exactly no news on knife that was supposed to ship a month ago.
2inthe10ringThe last official message said they would tell us if it would take longer than 30 extra days. 30 extra days have passed now and still nothing. *cricket chirp*
