Support for Alternative Layouts
This is a summary of how alternative layouts have been supported by kits such as Colevrak and Homing. It is not a discussion of alt layout performance and development, but if that interests you I highly recommend starting with Pascal Getreuer’s A guide to alt keyboard layouts (why, how, which one?). It’s a concise and comprehensive overview with links to some great sites that go deeper. He also has a separate Links about keyboards page. The Keyboard layouts doc he recommends explains layout goals and metrics in detail, summarizing the alt layouts discussed here as well as more than one hundred others. I'd rather just buy another keyboard.
I honestly don't get this impulse to poop on threads by announcing what you aren't buying. I'm not going into the O2+ODAC thread and complaining about the price, because I'm not the intended audience--I've got some okay cans but realized I just don't care enough about minute differences in sound quality to spend hundreds of $ in upgrading all my stuff. Newsflash: if you aren't the kind of person who cares about the differences in keycap quality between GMK's ABS and, like, Tai-Hao doubleshots, this drop isn't meant for you!
I'm glad that you all have figured out your buying preferences enough to know whether you want this drop. But the rest of us really couldn't care less that you aren't buying something.
Moreover, comparing a set of keycaps to an amp/DAC? You're stretching yourself thin on that one.
The difference between keycaps and dac/amps is irrelevant. I'm not buying dac/amps and you're not buying keycaps. The important difference is I don't feel the need to announce this fact to the world. For some reason, you do.
educate yourself, on the product(s), before you hit the "Submit" button.
Thanks.
