What are their sources for the wenge and ebony. Wenge is endangered and so are many species of ebony. I really enchorage everyone to know the state of the woods in these sort of products before buying. Wood isn't as well protected as animals and as a woodworker i would like to have these exotic woods available for generations to come. I'm not going to tell anyone to not buy them as I myself have a guitar with an ebony fretboard, but just something to think about before your purchase.

HrharrellThis was asked about a year ago and iirc, it was said that the ebony was sourced from Mozambique. And then there were some comments about gray area sourcing vs poaching in Madagascar which I don't recall.
I ordered an ebony 100% at the time which, while beautiful and functional, had some imperfections on it and began to warp over time so had to return it. I can tolerate some warping though, it is natural and can be fixed with a shim if it's mild. I'm considering joining this drop again in hopes of getting one without surface flaws (previous one came with a dented chip on front).

Got my full burl. There is a tiny dent at the side, hardly noticeable though. On the bright side, it's amazing, smooth and no heavy odour. Not perfect, but nice work. It looks better than the pictures.

with the oil finish that has zero protection, and the quality concerns... i think you could find better. But yeah, thats my personal opinion and as a passionate woodworker, I care about the little details :)

Sooo.... 35 dollars for a piece of wood that's been sanded and finished?
Why yes, I AM a sucker! And I was born YESTERDAY too!
I'm not really a fan of cushioned rests - they either are too thin or look like terrible IMO. Most of the comfort, I've found, from a rest comes from getting your wrists to an appropriate height relative to the keyboard. Cushioned rests don't add enough comfort compared to hard rests to make up for the fact that they look bad. In fact, I find they barely add any comfort at all and some are even so soft that they fail in their main purpose - to put my wrists where I'm more comfortable having them relative to the keyboard

Yeah, well said. I jumped at you. I bought the planck for fun, and it's kind of a look at me toy. I did more reading and see that these aren't finished how I expected either. I imagined or hoped they were finished to perfection with a final urethane coat. It seems they are only polished with a wheel? I read from a previous drop that the product warped after a week. If that's true, they have no coating. That makes it no better than, well, bare wood.

This drop is freaking me out. The mystery wood of questionable quality, the unintelligible vendor responses, the horror stories about the product, the dick guy....it's like the twilight zone in here.

Well, you sound like the guy that says keycaps are only ten cents worth of plastic. Overpriced or not, the seller of these things is making a profit, and you sound silly complaining. How much are you charging for YOUR wrist rests? Are they ready to go? I couldn't find your order page. Are you making your profit on ebay, etsy, amazon? Lol not really out loud.

So, I will tell you that i've purchased another Royal Sham wood wrist rest product in the past (through massdrop even), and there was nearly a 100% return rate on them because they all warped and cracked within a week. Wood was completely untreated, and the actual production quality of the item was TERRIBLE. Royal glam are scam artists, buyer beware. Please see the following link and have a look at the comments: https://drop.com/buy/royal-glam-marble-wrist-rest-massdrop-exclusive/talk Massdrop does not give a SHIT about the quality of the items they're hawking. Edit: Just want to also point out that in the drop I joined, there was also a green marble available, but it turned out to be just really poorly dyed stone and was rubbing off on people's wrists. I doubt you can assume any of the wood here is what it says it is.
(Edited)
Couple questions.
Where is the Ebony sourced from? Most Ebony species are endangered/protected, I do not want to be buying it if its coming from illegal logging.
What sort of finish is being used? oil or wax? and will there be need for additional care (i.e periodic re-waxing/oiling)
Do all rests come with feet?

Received my 60% Black Walnut Wrist Rest today and sadly, the finish has already started wearing. Approximately 1hr worth of use. The lighter area is now rougher in texture than the darker portions of the wrist rest. After all this wait, it's a bit disheartening to see this type of wear and tear with the limited use its seen.

aaron_alonzoLuckily that's a pretty easy fix. If you hit the rest with some Danish Oil it should even those spots back out, but if the wood isn't coated with poly/shellac like ensulyn mentioned you'll have to do it again eventually.

WoodLab KevinSum1111, is there any way I can order a 60% bobo wrist rest directly from you? I missed the most recent GB and would really like one to complete a build.
