What is SpaceFN and why you should give it a try
The SpaceFN concept - setting up your space key as a layer switch when held - is probably one of the most useful tweaks in the keyboard hobby. Let me explain how it works. My SpaceFN article on kbd.news made some rounds recently - quite surprisingly given the age of this concept. This piece you're reading is a condensed version of the full post. If you're left with unanswered questions, you'll most likely find the info you're looking for in the original write-up. On my imaginary top list of the most useful keyboard features, tweaks and hacks, SpaceFN would deserve a podium finish for sure. But what makes it so special? In short: SpaceFN is easy to implement, easy to learn, costs nothing, can be used with any keyboard, and can improve your productivity instantly. I will list its benefits below, but can state right at this point that the SpaceFN concept, setting up your space key as a layer switch when held, is clearly one of the most useful tweaks in the keyboard hobby....

First of all we wanted to apologize for the time to make this post. We’ve been monitoring the discussion since early this morning but communication with China took some time. I am going to give context on pricing and other concerns that have been raised in the discussion so far.
Clarification on MSRP and material used to make these Keycaps: The MSRP mentioned in the drop was actually a typo and we have fixed it. As the MSRP is the price set by the artisan, we’ve matched it to the drop point to reflect that.
These keycaps are made of titanium and not aluminum as mentioned in the drop description earlier. We have edited the drop description and the drop title to reflect these changes. Hence, the higher cost when compared to CNC aluminum keycaps.
Clarification on the price as compared to GeekHack group buy: Gen S, the creator of the these keycaps initially did a group buy for these keycaps on GeekHack and did price it as $55 per keycap. This pricing was an estimate that was made based on 3D renders and before any manufacturing or samples were created. The production of the keycaps ended up being much more complicated than expected and the estimated cost was far lower than the actual production cost. The price provided now is accurate based on the actual costs.
Gen S will make a post explaining further when they get a chance as it is late in China.
Let us know if there any further questions.
Better yet, make it TMX so you can reach the richer Topre guys.
