Does anyone know the mechanism of the side arms? I assume that the weight of the phone will bring down the bottom support, which will pull the side arms inwards and hold the phone in place, and simply lifting the phone will release the side arms? So, no springs on the two side arms, per se? Can someone confirm this?

jjk_sdThere is a arm release button on the side to release the grip. When initially setting up the phone you will manually adjust the legs to custom fit your device so the middle of the device matches the coil induction on the unit so you have a perfect fit without having to match the coil and the receiver are in sync.

I does fit the 8+ with a case. Remember that all wireless chargers are inductive charging which means if you case is thick like the otterbox defender which is a multi-layer case/cover it will be too thick for the receiver to detect wireless charging. Any case/cover thinner as with all wireless charger will work just fine.

TechoAny approximate numbers on how thick a case can be before wireless charging is blocked? Is that somewhat related to the strength of the field the charger can put out?

annasoh323Induction technology is the same charging when it's about transferring mAh into the device. How fast your phone get charged is the wattage. Standard wireless chargers are 5watts and the fast charge chargers are 10 watts. Obviously the 10 watt will charge your phone much quicker which is great from the short commuter. Going back to your question covers that are dual reinforced (2pc) may have issues. Covers like the otterbox commuter, Apple OEM covers, Snap covers, tempered glass covers will all work.
