If I could, I'd make it rain Pro Tech Toolkits and 54 Bit Driver Kits.
I can't make any promises, but we'd love to do more with Massdrop. Seriously—this community is awesome and the staff is hard working and accommodating.
This was our first drop—it won't be our last!
Jeff_SnyderI'd love to see you guys do more drops - especially with your higher end kits. While you guys have some of the best stuff around, the shipping to Canada can get kind of brutal at times.
Just for a frame of reference - the same kit ordered directly from you guys would be roughly twice the shipping costs as what Massdrop can pull off and wouldn't include tracking. I know a lot of that cost is beyond your control, but it gives you an idea of why I hope you guys can keep the drops coming.
Otherwise, keep up the great work on both the site and the products!
I have this kit. It's pretty cool, except the rubber grip on the handle started to rotate around the grip, and you don't get much torque with this kit. Other than that, it's great for screws that have already been loosened and general computer repair.
BernieBummer that your driver is failing. Contact iFixit customer service at support@ifixit.com and we'll replace it. All our tools come with a Lifetime Warranty. Yay!
Also, the magnetic extension is designed to double as a torque handle—like so:
Hey Jeff, more than fair, I love this part: "Outside the United States, unless otherwise stated, to claim a warranty replacement you will need to ship the defective part back to us using a non-expedited shipping method that is able to be tracked and does not exceed a cost of $25 USD.
Include a receipt for the shipping charges in the package or in an email to support@ifixit.com and we'll reimburse you for the shipping charges once we receive and process the return."
I just got my kit as well.
The bits appear well-machined compared to a dirt cheap kit I picked up years ago. The only thing that stuck out to me was the countersink on the handle hole. It's just aesthetics, but this is still some really sad-looking machining.
MonsieurKirbyGot mine in NZ, arrived in NZ on friday and at my place this morning, my kit was like @MonsieurKirby as well, some pretty crappy machining done to it, thought it doesn't affect the tool its just disappointing since my $2 micro screwdriver set is better made than this (also uses the same sized bits).
tommydadogCons;
- Same problem with the handle as @MonsieurKirby and @tommydadog mentioned.
- The torx security 6 and torx security 10 that have their security holes off-centered. TR6 still works, not sure for TR10 (I don't have things to try it with).
(btw, the description states that the kit has a regular torx 6 instead of a torx security 6. )
Pros:
- Most bits works fine.
- Tool quality is good for the price (I got it with $20, shipping not included)
- Flexible Shaft Extension is a plus.
aeolianbrassI was coming here to post the same thing, but shipping for me is $12 at maker shed. Gotta spend $75 to get $5 shipping, so kind of kills the deal.
An update for the group, the vendor is currently preparing the order. Contrary to the original update the vendor will be shipping the units directly to you. This will allow the orders to reach group members faster as the bulk order doesn't need to go to our warehouse first. The vendor will ship the individual orders for shipment on 7/15. We will upload tracking as soon as it becomes available.
Thanks for your patience and expect an update from us on 7/16 or sooner if something comes up.

1,000 units in one day is pretty gosh darn crazy. I talked to Jeff, and we secured another 1,000 units for our members to purchase.
Awesome stuff guys. :)
