Support for Alternative Layouts
This is a summary of how alternative layouts have been supported by kits such as Colevrak and Homing. It is not a discussion of alt layout performance and development, but if that interests you I highly recommend starting with Pascal Getreuer’s A guide to alt keyboard layouts (why, how, which one?). It’s a concise and comprehensive overview with links to some great sites that go deeper. He also has a separate Links about keyboards page. The Keyboard layouts doc he recommends explains layout goals and metrics in detail, summarizing the alt layouts discussed here as well as more than one hundred others. 1. Didn't expect the hole for the USB ports to be so huge, hopefully won't be attracting too much dust in the future. 2. 2U keys with the stabilizer bars kept "sticking" so I decided not to use them for now on my right. 3. Happy to see a small pinhole for the flash buttons on both cases. 4. Had to recap a few keycaps and the Cherry MX clears made it very difficult! 5. Soldering was easier than expected.
Overall, I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. Now to get used to typing on this...
