Alright, some good news. The PCB order has been placed, fabrication is underway and should be completed shortly. After the PCB was finalized however, it was found out that the case design no longer fit appropriately and needed to be reworked slightly. We've begun construction on the new cases, but building the 2000 new cases is going to take about 20 days. We're working to expedite this and get it out faster, but that's the time that was quoted.
This pushed us past the August date sadly, but as a thank you for your patience in this drop we're working on a gift to be included with your Infinity Ergodox. I'll be back with an update as I get more details involving construction and fulfillment. Thank you as always for your understanding and expect an update soon.

AlexPkI think you should send the boards, switches, keycaps, and other hardware out ASAP with the original cases. Then you can ship the new cases when they arrive. That way we have something to start working on, and I know some of us weren't planning to use the provided case anyway.
We've been waiting for a long time, and I'd STRONGLY prefer to have the parts in a timely fashion than an additional gift.
AlexPkThanks for the update.
You know what could be a good "gift" to include: it coming fully assembled.
Just a thought after all this headache and delay.
jwatkinsInteresting proposition. I have to imagine this will be a fulfillment nightmare because of communication and varying expectations of what's coming in the box, but I will talk to Kunal and Logistics about this. Thanks
AlexPkDuring Sept 25 ~ Oct 15 I will be out of my current country for 2 weeks. Can I get my keyboard until Mid of September? Or should I change delivery address to my friend's address. I am in South Korea. Please, say something.
muminoffHmm I would wait until it gets closer to the date you're leaving just to make sure. I'll keep this updated at each step so if it doesn't look like it'll reach you in time you can contact Support and have your address changed.
MiroatmeI think that would be pretty neat, but right now we don't have the logistics for assembly in place and I think it would ultimately just lead to even more delays and headaches. I'm open to suggestions from the community though, so thank you for brainstorming.
AlexPkAlex,
Thanks for trying to keep us in the loop, but I am sure that you can appreciate the fact that we would like more information about what exactly is going on.
I understand that there were some changes to the PCB to ensure quality control; what I do not understand is how that can effect the physical dimensions of the PCB in such a way that the cases need to be modified. Can you explain that in more detail? How was a change so drastic made months ago without the needed case alterations noticed until just now?
We have yet to see how the LCDs work on this product. Now that you have a finalized PCB will you be updating the description showing a functioning unit (even one without a case)?
Can you be more candid about the gift that you hope to include for the multiple delays with shipping?
With my money tied up for over a quarter of a year I feel that there needs to be a lot more transparency. I understand that if I want, I can cancel my order with MD; but at this point if I do that I have just loaned MD money to make a product to sell to someone else.
Not trying to shoot the messenger here Alex. You are in a tough spot, and I am grateful for the updates.
Chad_IncHey Chad. Completely appreciated and I'll try to be more transparent. Let me gather up some more specific details tonight and I'll post back here later tonight or tomorrow morning. Thanks for holding off on shooting me.
AlexPkWell I'm glad that you guys are going the extra mile and making sure this is a quality product. And thanks for the update.
To everyone complaining this is too much like a kickstarter, I think this illustrates that it is not. They are footing the bill to keep the quality high, I think if this were a kickstarter it would have been considered failed and been abandoned by now.
AlexPkThank you, Alex. I truly appreciate being kept in the loop. (... lol, and after re-reading what I wrote, no, I'm not trying to be sarcastic in the slightest. I'm really happy you've been talking with us!)
AlexPk... and some of us have switches/parts etc that we want to include in the build process -- if it came assembled, this would more insult than gift. (Not to mention, I actually like building it myself - even the surface mount stuff of the original ergodox).
AlexPkI’d appreciate one package when it’s all done and it’s right. Sending the boards and the cases separately will mean we in the UK will be hit by processing fees twice from the delivery agent.
AlexPkOoh, redesigned cases? Did the bottom profile change at all? Will my wrist-wrests still fit (as I was originally assured they would)?
Would be a bummer to have bought $75 worth of wooden wrist rests (two ergodox' worth) and not have them fit.
basepiI don't have the most newest one, but the one from a few weeks ago fits my Noko wrist rest on the bottom of the case and I don't think the bottom profile was affected. I think you should be in good shape with your wooden ones :)
Chad_IncAlright, a little more info.
Due to the Ergodox's unique shape (not a rectangle) and tight clearances, even small changes can cause some issues. In this case it looks like the thumb cluster that was modified required some very slight angle fixes. It won't be noticeable by looking at it or typing on it, but some of the keycaps were hitting the edge of the case and it was less than ideal.
@OverKill posted the link for the functioning LCD, but here it is again http://input.club/forums/topic/infinity-ergodox-update
I'm personally really excited to see what people figure out to do with it.
The gift is still up in the air. We have a couple ideas in mind, but are very open to suggestions. Right now we're leaning towards maybe some wrist rests or since this is a more DIY oriented crowd we could send the PCB to make your own numpad. Something that will be fun or useful. Hopefully both. Maybe LED's? Like I said, very open to suggestions.
Hope this helps some. Let me know if you have any other questions.
AlexPkI'd say the wrist rests too but I ordered a set from here after getting on the Ergodox hype train. They're sitting on a shelf right now. LEDs could be nice, the numpad PCB would be even better.
I don't care much for "compensation" though, I don't mind the wait at all. The gift would simply be a "bonus" for me. Hell, I'd be happy with "in-store credit".
AlexPkThanks for the additional information.
I think that many people have already ordered wrist rests, but the idea of a PCB for a numpad to work with our Doxes is **very** interesting.
Is it safe to assume that orders are already pre-batched and once the cases come in you will be able to turn around and ship to customers with a day or two? If not, how long after you receive everything from your vendors will it take for shipments to start heading to us?
Thanks again
AlexPk+1 for the numpad PCB. I'm guessing there's a lot of us that already have wrist rests, especially since you ran the grafiti wrist rests shortly after the ergodox drop.
AlexPkI would be interested in the numpad IF it worked as a unified system with the Ergodox. As in that would all be daisy chained into one USB port.
LEFTDOX ~~> NUMPAD ~~> RIGHTDOX ~~> PC
AlexPkI like both the wrist rest and numpad ideas. Rests are probably the more useful option for me personally. I already bought LEDs, so that wouldn't be useful for me.
Whatever you do, I won't be upset. I joined this drop for the keyboard, and as long as it is delivered and works well I'm happy.
AlexPkThe colored backlighting looks really nice!
The display should be nice for showing what layer you're on. I get myself confused every now and then on my Ergodox.
malkolmparkThanks for the update Alex, these things happen.
LED's Would be cool, like most other people I got some wrist rests a while back from another drop :)
AlexPkThanks for the update Alex. At this stage of the drop, the best "gift" would be a steady stream of status updates.
But, seeing as you asked regarding a physical gift, I think something directly related to the Infinity Dox would be great. Some ideas that come to mind (which I wouldn't mind buying in separate drops btw...):
- Integrated tenting solution
- Travel bag
- Full hand case
- Trackpoint module
- RGB leds
- Stabilizers
- 20" USB cable for connecting the two halves
- Both DSA and DCS keycaps
AlexPkAre you going to be giving a gift on a per person basis, or a per board basis? My friend actually ordered me a dox with his, as i didn't have the funds at the time, so i'm curious as to whether or not we will be receiving only one "gift".
AlexPk+1 LEDs
A tenting solution would be amazing, but it seems that I'm in the minority for wanting to tent my dox. I'm hoping to work out a way to turn them entirely vertical.
AlexPkThis project with its unpredictable delays is "funny", at least it will provide you (and your team) some experiences about project management. But well, I'm still in, with my "patience".
About providing an assembled keyboard, I actually don't care since I enjoyed very much assembling my previous ErgoxDox. But I will not consider this as a "gift".
About a gift for our patience, why not, but you can't provide one gift which will fit to everyone. In my case I plane to put this keyboard on the armrests of my chair, so I'm not interrested by stabilizers or plamrest. About the leds, seriously, it's not even 5$ for 100 leds ...
So the best thing is to leave us the choice about this gift. In my case, I don't want a numpad or some extra stuff for putting this keyboard on a desk. But I will be happy if you can provide me an easy and reliable way to fix this keyboard on my armrests, or if you have no idea, this stuff : https://www.massdrop.com/buy/led-color-changer .
Or a way to write on keycaps my custom layout with all the layers (I still can dream ... :p)
malkolmparkI like the idea of an Ergodox blueprint. Autographed by the designers! (I think can hear @HaaTa cursing me for suggesting that he sign 1000 posters...)
AlexPkI'm voting for RGB LEDs. I currently don't have anything to label the ergodox with, and I got transparent keycaps and switches (the closest I have is writing with permanent markers on the keycaps?). It'd be a pretty easy way of both indicating what keys are what for me (on a per-layout basis? I'm not sure if the RGB LEDs can have their colors changed dynamically per layer) and provide extra bling value.
AlexPkIf we're taking suggestions or votes, I'd rank the suggestions I've read so far:
1) LEDs
2) Numpad
3) Stabilizers
I've also throw into the ring of suggestions something kind of niche: tenting props.
I know I am not the only person who got an ergodox because of RSI problems, and my stack of Post-Its really sucks, style-wise.
anroThere are almost 1000 participants in this drop. Most of them don't join the discussions here. No matter what gift is picked, there's going to be a lot of unhappy people.
AlexPkNumpad pcb would be great, but an ergonomic numpad would be even better. Why not create an ergonomic numpad to go with the ergo flow of ErgoDox? That would be unique and i'm pretty sure it will get some interest.
Or Genovation relegendable keycaps? Uh, or better these, which glow in the dark!: http://deskthority.net/keyboards-f2/cherry-mx-keycaps-t7164.html
Or a 5x5 programmable numpad pcb instead of 4x5, for this keyboard (already has relegendable keycaps!): http://www.ebay.com/itm/130541363513 or better both pcb and keyboard :D
AlexPkI would be in favour of (in that order)
- carying case !!
- numpad PCB (but than I have to source some keys & switches) but not so much leds...
(- wrist rests ?)
