So has anybody got cool ideas for their ErgoDox? I plan to use glow in the dark keycaps with mine :) Also, relegendable because I will be hopefully experimenting with layouts.
KoviRobiBacklighting and maybe some LED color changers. I haven't seen a decent keyset that I want for work that also has ErgoDox support drop yet. But there is this awesome coffee one in its design phase.
KoviRobiI'm hoping to swap out the connectors for USB-C if its not too much trouble. Really excited about fully reversible cables and compatibility with mobile devices and desktops without silly OTG adapters etc.
dragon788Type C receptacles are of completely different pinout and configuration, so it's not possible to resolder them directly in place of a regular A or B USB3. We are exploring using Type C connectors in future keyboards however, but I'm not yet certain if it would make it into the next revision of the ergodox as it has to fit first (it's bigger), make electrical and logical sense for interconnectivity, etc.
ParakParak, that's great to know. My thinking was that rather than three connectors that are all slightly different in connectivity and function, using one common connector and in the future being able to pass through additional power to accessories or backlit keys or a battery pack for a wireless option would be more easily achievable with a connector that is soon to become ubiquitous.
dragon788Oh yeah, definitely - but suppose if you have two Type C connectors per half, then which is used for the interconnect, and which for the host, and how to avoid issues from getting them mixed up and possibly used incorrectly by having something unrelated... It's a lot to think about, but we have some ideas :D

KoviRobiI'm going to start by only installing the key switches I need for a steno keyboard, and cutting a top plate to cover everything else. I know I'll need to change the firmware to match that (as I've don'e on my current dox). I'm hoping this just works after the necessary keys are soldered and firmware is adjusted. If it doesn't then I'll have to play with it and try to find a solution. Lighting of some sort also sounds good.
KoviRobiIve got leds, a set of Granite dox keycaps and as soon as they release the measurements some CNC time to mill out a wooden full rist case. Can't wait but i'm in the second shiping window so i might get it by November :-(
HumanHmm the number you joined at isn't on the star icon anymore. I'll have to talk with Logistics about making an email or something to let everyone know which group their in.
AlexPkAs someone who joined in the first 200, then changed the order later to be 800th or something like that, this is really annoying :(
Oh well, it's my own fault
b3Rz3RkoYou won't get any noticeable performance improvements but USB C will allow plugging the keyboard into phones without requiring a USB On-The-Go adapter.
KoviRobiKeycaps from 7bit's Round 5, Noko palm rests, Kenisis Freestyle2 tenting, white LEDs, 65g springs (for Ergo-Clears), lube, stabilizers. Still to get: wood plate to go between top acrylic and metal plate.
JanitorJoeGot relegendable, glow in the dark SA keycaps from Signature Plastics to use on my keyboard. Though they did not sell 2u keycaps, don't suppose somebody has some spare they would sell? If you are in the UK that would be even more awesome :)
