ehntooWhen you got yours assembled, can you move the switches up slightly as if the switches are not mounted fully to the plate?

Spaceman1200Now that you mention it. I'm not sure what exactly is causing it, but I have 7 switches that can rock. Like if you push them forward the whole switch angles from | to / but it only leans in that one direction. It doesn't pull up slightly if it starts from a flat position.

Spaceman1200I'm not quite sure what you mean by "up", but it was fairly easy to both insert and remove the switches from the plate before I went through and soldered everything. There was a barely noticeable amount of play of the switch bodies in the mounting holes, but nothing that concerned me.
I did follow the instructions written for the ErgoDox when it came to assembling the stabilized switches, and installed the stabilizer clips, bar, switch and key cap before soldering them.

Spaceman1200If you are referring to the Matias switch and how it can slide up (as in away from you) in the plate, mine did that as well (can also move down, roughly 1mm either direction). At first I had ALL of my switches in that position for uniformity. Once I got to the stabilizers though I realized it threw off the alignment and made the keys stick, so I re-centered everything before soldering.

vim_commandoCan you explain how you re-centered everything. A few of my keys slide up including the spacebar. The spacebar also happens to be sticking hard. It looks pretty centered to me, but maybe this is whats throwing it off.

BestUndecidedIf you have your stabilizers installed, those were what were keeping my space bar stuck down. That was where I had to scrape off the flashing (rough spot on the edge) of the insert. For me the "centered" Matias switch has both side ridges sitting flush on the plate, and the top and bottom ridges filling the space, but barely touching the plate.
If you have the stabilizer's plastic cleaned up, try nudging the switch toward the bottom of the keyboard; when mine was to far forward, it was causing extra friction.

vim_commandoAwesome! I'll give that centering trick a try so pulling caps wont be such a pain in the future. Got my stabilizers working. It seems one of my U's was too tight, but there were a couple extra in the pack and one of those worked much better.
