The description for these says, " Please note that all Inov-8 shoes use UK sizing, and reference the chart below when choosing your size. " I did reference the chart and ordered UK size 10.5, the equivalent of US 11.5. I received UK size 9.5, which is equivalent to US size 10.5 and far too small. This is an outrage. How can you possibly be so careless?
Well, good for you then. Not for me, though. I reported the problem to Support on Friday. On Monday morning they emailed me to ask for photo documentation of the packing label, packing slip, and any stickers on the product itself. I supplied all the requested photos within the hour, along with screen shots of the drop announcement advising users to order their UK size. It's now Tuesday afternoon and I've had no response, four days after originally reporting the problem.
bucklebusterOK, finally got a reply. No shoes in the right size, so I have to return them for a refund plus a $10 coupon on a future drop, expires in a year. Not nearly enough to compensate me for my time and trouble, and there's a good chance I won't ever use it because I'm kind of fed up with Massdrop's business model.
Bought them a year ago, comfortable, rather snug, with a good grip but the mesh started tearing up quite badly in less than 4 months of moderate use...
Poor pitiful guy...
My first sentence isn't interrogative, and my review just states that the shoes are great but the mesh is weak, which is the kind of stuff i'm interested in when i buy a pair of shoes, but you don't care, you're here to bash others, not for the products.
And please pardon my english indeed, it's not my mother tongue.
But thanks, i consider myself amoung the lucky ones indeed, can't say the same about you.
Now i have other things to do, so i appologize but I have to let you spit and bark at an empty street.
Dude, you are nitpicky and an idiot. A dangerous combination, especially when accompanied by such snark and sensitivity. He provided useful real world feedback and is in no way obligated to write an entire essay on the subject nor to satisfy the likes of you. I'm sure he is very lucky. If you were having a bad day then you would have thrown even MORE snark and needless irrelevant criticism at him! Thanks for contributing to the discussion on the listed shoes, by the way. As a side note, I would like to point out that the amount of space you take up is entirely justifiable. And I mean that sincerely.
These have easily become my favorite shoes. I can use them hiking or running, plus at the office and around town. One of my tested periods was at Outdoor Retailer, when I was on my feet for 10 hours in a row, at least, for four days straight. I love the grey/blue colors - seem to match anything I wear.
My run this weekend was a bit muddy and these did really well. Paired with my Fitsoks and I have no troubles, no hot spots, no slipping.
bourbonSame bourbon, they gouged me for 18 bucks, greatly diminishes my ability to consider this a deal. Why not have it available at a DHL post? Or was this the doing of Canadian customs? Regardless, someone's a bastard.
According to the Inov-8 website description, these are trail runners. Here's their quote:
"Run with confidence with our lightest, most flexible men's trail running shoe. The ROCLITE 290 is designed for running quickly over multi terrains. Delivering a responsive ride and high levels of durability, it's perfect for moving fast over everything from mountain rock to muddy grass, hard-packed trails and roads."
These are the successors to the Roclite 295 and built for the same terrain. I own the older gen Roclite 295 and the newer 320 with the higher ankle cut. I like the new ones better, the sole is a bit more versatile and the upper is a bit more durable. If I didn't own too many shoes I would grab these to (eventually) replace my 295s.
US to EU sizing is not standard across brands. Nor is there a standard for US mens to womens conversion. According to Inov8's sizing chart, if you wanted a 41.5, you should have ordered a US 8.5. @SonicLux - glad you got the shoe quickly but sorry it didn't fit well.
DannyMilksYes i thought it is standard, but as Danny wrote, it isn't.
My fault for sure.
Great shipping / support. So i continue using massdrop. Now ebay time :D
/edit:
BTW: german customers have to pay ~11Euros on taxes on top (i knew this, maybe others not..)
I have a pair of these and wear them nearly every day regardless of activity. I've worn them in the snow and mud, on hard packed dirt trails and endless miles of concrete sidewalks. Love them. They last easily 2-3 times as long as my similar Altras.
