Awesome to see more tops as always.
Hopefully one day BilletSpin comes here.
Not just him but all those top makers that are highly sought after.
I have to ask, is this top available without any coating?
BrainFlushAgree on BilletSpin, I'd love to have one of his Nexus tungsten long-spinners, but most of his fancy stuff is way out of my price range and even so, it sells out in like 5 minutes. (I assume people with bot programming skills are usually getting them? I am online dangerously close to half the day most days, and I always miss these "flash sales".)
Anyway, it would be really cool to see a BilletSpin/Massdrop collaboration on a top with a balance between unique / limited edition, but not crazy expensive or so complicated to produce that volume would be an issue.
An interesting challenge would be to produce a top that has crazy long spin time but manages to only cost in the $100ish range. It seems like some flavor of the Nexus design could meet that criteria if he used Massdrop's volume to fund it. I'd be OK with a long lead time if it meant I'd be guaranteed to actually get one of his tops.
rsnblmnIt would never happen. He makes tops because he enjoys the challenge and making unique things, not for money, so he makes what he wants and then selects an appropriate price after accounting for expensive materials and skilled craftsmanship. Also, he already has a mechanism for selling the 'cheaper' versions of his tops. It's on indiegogo. There's one on there right now for another 16 days or so and he'll make as many as are ordered. Some of them like the recent crown design are even actually pretty affordable.
TPowesThanks for the heads up!
I definitely get that - there are many custom knife makers who have achieved similar status where they can afford to just make what they want on their own schedule. Hats off to anybody who gets to that level, I am very envious of their talent.
TPowesI've got two and they battle side by side on two different stations for the longest spin time many times everyday. After hundreds of spins neither the brass nor the stainless steel has came out as a winner. Must keep on battling!
