Disappointed is the first word that comes to mind. The enlarged product image gave me an impression of an "altoids" tin box sized product. My mistake perhaps - i didnt see the 0.5 Oz quantity or have a clue of what that translates to. The product is already losing its fragrance and drying up due to a badly designed cover.
In summary - bad buy. Lessons learnt - read discussions threads carefully before buying & everything on Massdrop isnt necessarily good value.
The cologne amount is the same from Root and Muddle (0.5 oz.), and the container also appears to be as airtight as these (metal on metal). So aside from the price, your big lean to these is because it's recommended by someone on YouTube?
TLemelinmaterial in no way determines seal/ airtight, the designs of a screw on or pop on top/cap are vastly more airtight than a piece of metal that slides over the top of something. thats like saying that any material existing next to another will just instantly seal regardless of design.
Still waiting for a reply - How many girlfriends do/did you have so that multiple, we're assuming, lady-friends of yours could smell your lineup of fragrances?
Gender neutral?!? What?!?
This smells like mother nature. That is a lady, yes?
FWIW, I have a boutique in my city that sells the full line of these products. I would go in there every now and then to sample the various scents. It really is nice to actually smell them in person. I thought I was in love with Siskiyou and bought a bottle of the trail soap, then a bottle of the cologne, and then the balm. I thought the other scents were a little one dimensional. After a while, I also ended up with a bottle of Big Sur trail soap, and a bottle of Mojave trail soap.
Funny thing is, once I got everything home and started using them, I actually like Siskiyou the least, and Big Sur the most. I would have never thought that by the numerous times I smelled them in the store.
I find Big Sur most comforting. It's got a big, piney low note that's like a big bear hug. Mojave is interesting, and I like it for a smokey note. I find Siskiyou to be more tilted to the high, bright notes, and it doesn't have the body of the other two.
I wonder how much this changes from batch to batch. Of course, everyone likes differently, so I'm sure these would be ranked differently by others.
FriggaDYeah, everyone has a different body scent, and some products that may work for one person may not with another. The two chemistries commingle. It's hard to say what the final outcome will be.
I remember back in in the day, there was a cologne called Joop. My brother loved it, and it smelled nice when he wore it. When I put it on, however, it smelled like a dried out innertube from a bicycle. The way it interacted with my body chemistry created a result that was not desirable.
With the scents I mentioned above, I'm not sure if it's how it interacts with my body, or whether it's batch-to-batch variation in the same product. For example, I don't think scent of the Siskiyou trail soap lives up to what I sampled in the store, whether I just sniff it out of the bottle or use it on my body. Maybe product variation, here?
Although I find the Siskiyou liquid cologne, which I also purchased from a drop here, much more satisfactory, although still not up to the level I experienced in the store.
Funny thing is, it also worked the other way around. Some of the scents I found too basic and overpowering in the store, I ended up liking, like Big Sur and Mojave. At least in the trail soaps I have. And in the store I tired both sniffing straight from the bottle, and trying it on my wrists over various visits.
I think there are a few things at play, here: 1) product variation among the samples (it is based on natural ingredients, so you'd expect some degree of variation among batches even if the basic scent is largely the same), 2) variation in scent based on body chemistry interaction, 3) mental shenanigans - my own expectations influencing my perception in whatever sensible or convoluted way.
But I do think it's a good product line, regardless.
MatsIn defense of being small for the price paid I disagree completely: these are wild harvested products. Considering that, they're actually very reasonably priced.
Buying scented products online can be a little iffy...
...Still, these sound kind of interesting and might be worth a try. Any thoughts about which of these scents might be the most 'subtle'?
I got all 4, they arrived yesterday.
They all smell amazing. Curently using the Sierra Granite and love it.
I think the Mojave is the most unique of the scents.
Thanks Juniper Ridge/Massdrop.
Any chance to get some more stuff from them? I missed the trail soap last drop.
Just received the product today. I ordered all 3 variants.
Very disappointed as the perfume / scents of all 3 are mixd up and it is difficult to tell, them apart
all 3 variants were packed into one padded envelope and were in transit for over 13 days.
As the original product is packed in a slide top tin - the same is not airtight -- resulting in the perfume / scent of all 3 mixed.
If the product duct had been individually packed or even sealed in plastic -- the perfume getting mixed up would be minimized.
I would appreciate a refund or a replacement product sent across which is well packed or at least individually packed and sealed in plastic.
