OrganiCaliThey certainly are. We are pretty proud of the weight of these out of the box, but you are definitely able to fill them if need be.
*Just A Side Note* - Because the hollow of the stand is used for cable management as well, you'll want to make sure you use an internal sleeve (plastic bag) when loading the lead shot or sand. Otherwise, it will leak through the bottom.
