Just recently got interested in these 65% ish keyboards and really want a kit. Saw this came out today and seems like a copy of the FC660m? Should i purchase this or wait for the next drop for Whitefox or the RedScarf II (So far my favorite). But i am not sure if they will be on drop ever again? Anyone here knows?
SamaritansClueboard is easily the best 65ish board. This one looks like they didn't pay much attention to detail and took the cheap route in manufacturing of the case.
Alex00322i was actually looking into clueboards, but their sandwich case looks horrible... i know they said the aluminium case will be back on store soon, but won't the aluminium case block the purpose of having LED underglow?
SamaritansClueboard with aluminum case isn't great. The plate is a little too small and the spacer follows suit. As a result, keycaps with sharp corners (Cherry or DSA) will scrape on the spacer. OEM profile caps generally have rounded corners and will just barely fit after a bunch of fiddling with it. Not worth it IMO.
SamaritansI have a whitefox and love it - the only downside is that I'm not a huge fan of costar stabs, but it is all around a great board, and since the design is open source I could get a plate with PCB mount stabilizer cutouts if I want. Not sure about kbd66 or Redscarf, but I have generally heard positive things about the kbd75 kit. I'll defer to those who actually participated in that group buy :)
Edit: I'm talking about the Massdrop FC660 case.
murkeyWhich aluminium case are you referring to? The MD produced variant for the 660M or Clueboard's new aluminium case? Assuming you're referring to MD case. The new aluminium case by Clueboard has plenty of clearance.
SamaritansThey'll have it available on their site once they sort out all the MD buyers. From what I can see in the photos provided, it's one of the finest quality constructed case I've laid eyes on. I don't have it so I can't provided further details than that.
ViraYeah, I don't think they were talking about the one Clueboard actually designed. Clueboard had nothing to do with that metal fc660 case. They just put their PCBs in it.
SamaritansI've been on an endless search for the perfect 65% board too. I'm waiting for the Zealio 65 RGB board thats supposed to come out in a few months. If you like a heavier tactile switch, it's the one to wait for I think. I like cherry clears but I've heard the Zealios are even better.
unicornsocksYes! I was actually going to get Zealio switches, 65g seems awesome, i keep bottom out my current red ones and frequently have mistakes. Any more info on the Zealio 65?
SamaritansI got a Zealios switch tester to make my decision. Very glad I did. Ended up going for the 65g. https://www.novelkeys.xyz/shop/zealio-switch-tester
And the Zealios switches aren't really more expensive than cherry, cheaper if you get group buy pricing (which you can right now at Zealpc.net) Great deal really considering they come pre-lubed on the important parts and feel fantastic.
murkeyI have a Clueboard v2.0 in the massdrop FC660 Case with zero issues Murkey is talking about.

As you can see I have the Leopold caps on and they have extremely sharp corners and I have zero issues with clearance or anything scraping. I don't know about the new model that the Clueboard store carries but again no issues with the alu plate from there and the FC660 alu case.
murkeyI see...hrmm I don't have that I just used toolbox liner on ther bottom of the PCB to push it up to the top of the case. No rattle, wiggle or anything damn solid if you ask me. Anyhow thanks for the clarification.
unicornsocksHe posted that black and gold one on april fools. I thought it was a joke. The purple case was just for show. He said he never planned on releasing it. I think he said it's two or three colors.
