I just got this numpad from the last time it dropped and I have to say that it has drastically changed my life. Prior to receiving this product, my girlfriend would laugh at me and make jokes about my keyboard set up. I would try to show her the led lights on some of my keyboards but the most they could do was the "breathing" setting which is a slow cycle of on, brightest, lowest, off, over and over again. She would say things like, "All it does is go on and off!", "It's really not that cool!", "You are a terrible lover!" So, as you can see I was distraught. I wanted her to know how amazing and cool I was based solely on my keyboard purchases! Well, let me tell you, things have changed. Yesterday I opened up the package and plugged this bad boy in. I started messing with the light settings and to my surprise there were many options. I cycled through them and landed on the fast moving disco light setting. Both the bottom and top leds were going crazy! All of the sudden I realized that my house had become a dance club, blaring music! There were people everywhere and they were poppin' bottles, having sex, and all doing molly! I heard my girlfriend come home from work and she burst through the door looking super hot in her shortest clubbing dress! She started grinding on me and saying how she loved me and couldn't imagine being without me and my insanely awesome number pad! We raved all night and she was saying things like, "Your penis is bigger than I said it was!", "You're not the ugliest of your siblings!" I was ecstatic! We are now married with 5 children and I couldn't be happier. I highly recommend this number pad.
just got them today, so I thought I'd post some impressions. First thing that jumped out at me was that the top LEDs aren't bright at all. I semi-expected this since the LEDs are mounted on the top while the caps are front facing, but even with the caps off, the LEDs aren't bright at all even in my dark office compared to other backlit keyboards I own. I have not found any brightness setting at all, although it is possible to run the unit with the LEDs off. Otherwise, the build quality seems to be pretty good and the bottom has nicely padded feet and even the angled feet, which I didn't expect at all. Oddly, the Esc/F row keys have blue LED as opposed to the purple that is shown on the main page.
As for "functions", F2+F1 cycles through the lighting mode for the top LEDs, which has a decent selection of reactive lighting and breathing modes, although since the lights are a permanent gradient, it isn't too fancy. F2+F3 cycles through the lights on the bottom LEDs, which by the way is much brighter than the top LED. This just cycles through a few different colors and there is a seizure mode where it flashes through all the colors without any fading effect and much too quickly for me to consider using.
Additionally, if the F2 isn't held down, F1 also acts like F5, or the refresh page button on a web browser and some other apps, while F3 acts like the backspace button. I like this touch, especially the F3, as it would be handy to have a way to backspace quickly if you typed the wrong number, so that's a real nice surprise. Other than that, it looks like this numpad has a nice standard layout so it should be compatible with most aftermarket keycaps.
EinTheVarianceAlso F2 + "+" or "-" changes the brightness of the top LEDs.
I got these from a more recent drop, so maybe they added that feature later.
I'd love to join this one, but only if we can ascertain if it sends true numpad codes. Tons of these standalone pads do not, making them effectively useless for many applications.
EDIT/UPDATE: According to @YanboWu this pad DOES send Numpad codes.
Have all the issues I'm reading about been addressed? It seems the main issues concern QC and poor switches. Did previous drops not include Cherry switches? I'm hoping everything is alright because this looks amazing.
groezyI would also like to know if the QC has been addressed. This drop looks great but the lack of response from MD to the below comments is concerning.
ohlyverMost items that drop here, barring custom keycap sets, have some kind of accepted market value already in place. This looks to be a new item launch so it doesn't have a "Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price" simply because it isn't out for retail. That's all Evo_Spec is saying.
What we know up until now:
- The numpad is not programmable by normal means
- Sends out actual numpad codes
- Gradient is permanent, no RGB
- LED's are facing up (north), whilest keycap legends (front) are facing down (south)
- F1 and F2 are used for LED options
Questions still unanswered:
- What materials is the numpad made out of?
- Does the bottom tranclucent material has a red tint by default?
- Can the leds be turned off (for both the bottom and top)?
- What does F3 do?
YamazakiThink there's a few more things up it's sleeve. I'm going to test it a bit tomorrow and get back to everyone :).
EDIT:
Turns out, the bottom LEDs are actually RGB! I've updated the copy to properly reflect that
YanboWuthe bottom being RGB sounds like good news. Just one last thing...what exactly does "F2+F1 - Cycles through top light modes" mean? I thought top lights are either permanent gradient or just white? What are you cycling between?
