Support for Alternative Layouts
This is a summary of how alternative layouts have been supported by kits such as Colevrak and Homing. It is not a discussion of alt layout performance and development, but if that interests you I highly recommend starting with Pascal Getreuer’s A guide to alt keyboard layouts (why, how, which one?). It’s a concise and comprehensive overview with links to some great sites that go deeper. He also has a separate Links about keyboards page. The Keyboard layouts doc he recommends explains layout goals and metrics in detail, summarizing the alt layouts discussed here as well as more than one hundred others. There is a reason why I would never buy food, medicine, or water from Massdrop, CAUSE I m not going to get them quickly. But for things that I want, not need, and that no place else can source, I m fine with waiting for Massdrop.
This isn't brand loyalty to Massdrop either, if you or someone else starts up a company that does the exact same thing as MD but gets it to me on-time and quickly 100% of the time, I would gladly use your service.
In the meantime, its like I m trying to order a burger at McDonald's knowing exactly how unhealthy it is, but you come up to me while eating a burger yourself and complaining to me how disgusting McDonald's is.
