If you’re an avid outdoorsman, chances are you’ve encountered some Kelty products. For the uninitiated, Kelty has made reliably excellent outdoors gear for over 50 years, starting with a simple hand-sewn backpack. Now, Kelty leads the next generation of highly functional bags with the Kelty Strike 37 Tactical Backpack, a bag with so many pockets that you’ll have to go out of your way to fill them all.
Before we commit all the way to Pocketpalooza, let’s talk a few generalities. Giving you a durable yet light construction, the body is made of 500D nylon kodra and 1000D nylon kodra. Although the material isn’t waterproof, Kelty included a rain cover with its own dedicated pocket on the bottom. In the frame, two removable LightBeam aluminum stays give you more support if you need it, but the straps at the waist, shoulders, and sternum should be enough.
And now, for the pockets. The main compartment features a reservoir sleeve and an organizer sleeve; the zipper front panel has a security pocket, an internal organizer, a key clip, pen sleeves, and a microfiber pocket that’s perfect for sunglasses; the bottom has the aforementioned rain cover pocket, as well a shovel pocket; the side boasts two zippered pockets and two shove-it pockets; and to round it all off, the space between the front panel and the main compartment can be used to store larger items, like a tent. Finished with cinches all over, drain holes in the bottom, and subtly snappy style, the Kelty Strike 37 Tactical Backpack gives you the right gear for a weekend on the trail or a trek through the urban jungle.
