Got this back in October, went EDC with the whangee handle sticking out of my briefcase. Tons of style but very little substance, I'm sad to say. Blows out in even a light gust of wind, and one of the spoke tips broke after a dozen brief uses.

Does anyone own this umbrella? I'm afraid it's not going to hold up against lower Manhattan wind gusts.

Question about the handle: On Kent Wang's website the handle shown here as "Whangee" is called "Malacca"; the Whangee handle is a smooth wood. So, if I order the Whangee handle, will I receive the Malacca-looking handle as shown here? Because that's really the one I want.

madlybadlyYou have it backwards - there must be an error on Kent's site if you're reading it there. Malacca is a hardwood with a smooth finish (we're not offering this). Whangee is the root of a bamboo plant, as seen here. Hope that helps!

CalaverasgrandeTelescoping would be the more accurate term, but it's a long word and most people seem to prefer 'folding'.
